Character Discussion The Story Would Have Been Better Without The Supernova and The Seven Warlords

Hi Worstgen,

This is an opinion article. I dislike the Supernova and I read recently that Oda didn't even intend to put them in the story until a chapter before he made them. Personally, I think the story would have been better off without them.

I also read he didn't intend to make the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Instead, the story would have focused more on the Pirate Emperors.

I don't care about the Supernova or the Seven Warlords.

True, i also believe that naruto would have been better without akatsuki and orochimaru alongside bleach being better without soul society and aizen.

Same goes for HxH without hisoka and the spiders.

I agree that most of the supernova would have been better off being cut, but the original 7 warlords are the best group in the manga by a large margin imo. The story would be hurt hard by cutting them.

one of the worst takes ive ever seen. The warlords are by far the best antagonists in the series and shape the pre-timeskip which is the pinnacle of one piece, and the only good villain post timeskip happens to be a warlord as well... one piece would not be popular at all if it was just a shorter story with the yonko, in which blackbeard is the only well written one, would be a complete joke manga

He shouldn't have given warlord inflated bounties late in the story for the sake of it, after giving them average feats.

He shouldn't have made 9 SNs, it should have only 4 : Law, Kid, Capone and Urouge
Don't make Zoro and Killer as SNs.

Warlords are fucking amazing.Doflamingo and Crocodile were much better villains than Kaido and Big Mom.Moria was weak as hell but even he has some personality in him.Crydo and Big mom were gargbage as villains and gargbage as characters.One Piece would be much better without Yonkos.

Some of the SN are indeed useless and not likeable. Have less of them (I would get rid of Kidd and his crew, Bonney and Urouge. The rest are fine even though Drake is a huge disappointment (he helped the introduction of SWORD at least).
The Warlords on the other hand are one of the best groups we have in OP, great characters overall and interesting DFs.

The 7 Warlords played role of best antagonists in the story and delivered some of the very best arcs in the story.

As for the SNs, somewhat true. Aside from Law if others hadn't been introduced in the story not much would've changed. Though i love Saboady arc and their intro was hype!

Side character are the main reason that effect the quality of current day one piece. They are needed yes but do not require to take too much time on them.
Supernova and Warlords are major character and hence should be important. It's sad thing that most supernova are undeveloped and that many side character take the spotlight instead of them.
Warlords however are implemented perfectly and their one of the fan favourite.

So, it's the side character that hampers the story or at least should be reduced to certain degree.
I hope Oda after long break would give more spotlight, screentime and more focus to the major character especially on the final saga.

Supernovas are meh but the Admirals and Warlords are the best characters of OP.

Oda wasted a decade on the Emperors and they couldnt even get higher than the Thousand Sunny at the popularity poll.

One of the greatest things in the story are the SNs and warlords without them one piece would have been less enjoyable for me. So I disagree I even wish to see more and more of them.

Supernovas sure. Story wise they’re mostly pointless, but nah warlords are the best group.

If the story was just about luffy fighting big mom and Kaido this story would’ve tanked years ago.
