"Those with powers... exist in different dimensions dreamed up by someone else before them!"
Vegapunk is a scientist, and, ethics aside, guess what? He's pretty dang good at science.
If Vegapunk says Devil Fruit powers exist in Different Dimensions, well, then I fucking believe him.
And, at this point, even if the question is "how/why", it's pretty clear Imu is deeply connected to the existence of Devil Fruits.
We can even see characters, like Caribou and Teach, showcase this "interdimensional" aspect, as their Fruits lead to spaces that allow them to trap huge amounts of matter, with Caribou's Fruit swallowing items, then regurgitating them out, like a Swamp, and Teach's Fruit sucking in, then crushing everything, with Black Hole/Liberation.
If Imu IS a Demon King, like Tot Musica in Film Red, who could very well be canon, since Uta has been showcased as canon in the manga... then, it explains God Valley very well.
Even though Imu was "present" in God Valley, in reality, the Imu we see is a SHADOW from another dimension. This is why Imu is in silhouette: we aren't fighting Imu's true form, but the Shadow of a Demon Lord, that is coating Nerona Imu, who summoned said Demon. In order to hurt Imu, like Tot Musica in Film Red, you have to attack Imu IN THE DIMENSION THEIR DEMON EXISTS IN.
For this reason, I believe the Gura Gura is so dangerous: it can shatter the barriers between dimensions.
What does Van Auger claim the Blackbeard Pirates are after? What is their Goal? "The World."
What is Newgate's Gura Fruit capable of? "Destroying the World."
We hear this straight from "look the other way when the Celestial Dragons are killing the slaves" Sengoku himself.
This also COMPLETELY explains why Teach wants the Gura Gura no Mi. Rocks was from God Valley, and got his info from their, Eris (possibly from Lulusia), and sources he found sailing around. Teach had the benefit of gaining Rocks knowledge, on top of using Newgate to explore the Ancient History, as well.
Teach's end-game is clearly killing Imu, and becoming the King of the World.
If the Gura can literally BREAK DIMENSIONAL BARRIERS, and allow Teach to enter the realm of the Demon whom Nerona Imu summoned... that truly is a nasty threat to Imu/Gorosei.
This also explains perfectly why Imu/Gorosei didn't want ANYTHING to do with Newgate, until he was dying of cancer: the Gura Gura creates Vibrations that lead to Seismic tremors.
If this these quakes can break the barrier of the Abyss Regen entirely, then Newgate could legitimately kill Gorosei with his Awakened Fruit.
Why did we never see Whitebeard use this? Sengoku already told us, Newgate's Awakening can DESTROY THE WORLD.
Look at how destructive a 10 Day Battle between top-tier Logias, who were NOT trying to kill each other, was to the environment they fought in, and now consider Marineford Newgate dying of cancer was still stronger than both of them.
Prime Newgate with Awakened Gura could literally make a sea uninhabitable. Newgate was NOT crazy enough to use this Fruit.
Teach? Teach is a gambler, and willing to take big risks to kill Imu.
This is yet another reason Marineford is the stupidest shit the dumbass Marines ever pulled.
Creating a power vacuum filled by a Yonkou WHO DID YOUR WORK FOR YOU, AND PROTECTED ISLANDS YOU WERE TOO BITCH MADE TO PROTECT YOURSELVES BECAUSE YOUR SLAVE-RAPING "gods" TOLD YOU TO, IS SO DUMB.
The Marines probably figured they could get Newgate's Gura Gura Fruit, afterwards: there's no way that between Dr. Vegapunk, and Imu, that the Marines don't know how Fruits regen/form in the wild.
Teach wasn't killing Newgate out of a desire to kill his Step-Father: Teach, like with Boa, was ensuring the Marines sucking up to the sex-trafficking Celestial Dragons shitlords, didn't hand Imu one of his greatest weakness on a fucking cornucopia platter.
In order to prevent Imu from getting his hands on a Fruit that can threaten them, Teach was forced to kill his Pops, knowing that Whitebeard wouldn't survive Marineford, at that point, anyway.
However, Teach wants to RULE the world, not destroy it. Teach wants to destroy the World Government, and all their racist scummy cronies who made his life hell, and possibly make them into slaves.
So, Blackbeard won't use the Awakened Gura, unless he needs to, most likely against God's Knights/Gorosei/Imu themself.
But, when Teach DOES use the Awakened Gura, A LOT OF SHIT is going to break, like, reality breaking on Gear 5 levels, in ridiculous ass ways.
