But the real reason is linked to what Garling discovered during the flashback: Davy D. clan
that means Davy D. clan is the most important between all D. clans.

But why they would be considered gods? Everyone is expecting to Joyboy be a Monkey D. member, but what if Joyboy real name is Davy D. Jones? This would be a subversion of expectations

Yeah that could be plausible. Monkey could be a fake name too. I've seen people say Joyboy could be Davy Jones as well.

All of the SHs have been associated with or even called demons IIRC. Similar thing going on, slander/vilification.

Does he? Luffy spends everything he gets because he likes partying. Davy Jones is a hoarder. And if God Valley is a piece of Davy Jones’ hoard since it’s filled with precious metals and gemstones, it doesn’t fit Joyboy.

And the One Piece is a treasure that Roger would approve of. And we know canonically he doesn’t view Gold and Jewels as good loot.

Luffy didn’t even care that the money got stolen. He’s not one to hoard treasure. He spends whatever he gets

God Valley is a hoard of treasure (jewels and precious metals) which is not the type of loot Roger would’ve called a wonderful treasure

It shows too different types of pirates. It’s like comparing Buggy and Luffy.

There are those who want to hoard monetary treasure and riches (Davy Jones/Buggy) and those who’s treasure is something personal (Joyboy/Luffy)

Davy Jones being Joyboy just doesn’t fit with the stories we’ve heard of Davy Jones

I keep switching my stance on who Davy Jones might have been, but seeing how He is treated like "The Monster" of Pirates,
I think He was to Joy Boy, what Chopper was for Hiriluk, (Like his Son)

Meaning He was Inspired by Joy Boy & Inherited his Dream,
And just like Chopper, He joined a Crew (Not Joy Boy's) which is what eventually led to him adding "D." to his Name,
It also explains why Lili was also a D. Hidden from WG, because just like Vivi, She was an Unofficial Member of that Crew,

Chopper is Portrayed as both a Pet & a Monster, both a Reindeer & a Human, (Technically it's a Reindeer that is Host to a Human)
We recently seen Imu Possessing Gunko & her Eyes turned Double-Layered, showing us how an Ancient Fusion of Two Characters would look,
So, if Davy Jones is indeed Joy Boy's Chopper & Monster Member of D. then it means He had a Second Identity which is being their Pet,

Who was Joy Boy's Pet Figure? Zunesha
Does Zunesha have Double-Layered Eyes? Yes!
Cursed/Punished to remain at Sea? Yes

I think Davy Jones is Human living inside Zunesha, being both Pet/Monster of Joy Boy & D. Crew.

I think the D. clans had several deities amongst their ranks, from Nika (sun/fire) to Davy (sea/water): beings able to terraform the entire planet with their wills. The CDs subplanted the Ds in this godly worship, but nobody in the WG can match up to a fully-powered D. god, which is why IMU needs an Ancient Weapon in the first place.
Sun God, Sea God, Forest God, Sea God--they were all Ds; but now their DFs have reincarnated even outside D lineages, which is why he WG has a chance at winning.
But in the end, it will he again down to D (Luffy) vs D (BB) for the fate of the entire world.
