Wait, I thought Apoo was retroactively revealed to have always been on Kaido’s side, even before he joined Kidd’s Alliance?
So when Kaido spontaneously appeared out of nowhere to wreck Kidd’s shit, Apoo was actually upholding his loyalty to Kaido over his shaky alliance with a highly aggressive red head that openly hates him for no good reason.

I am so satisfied... Turns out my devotion is not in vain... I already made a small altar for the Red God in my bedroom, including Red God plushie that I keep hugging everynight and praying to Holy Trinity of Papa Goroseis, Son Shanks and Whitebeard Spirit. I keep doing my life following the Shanks way, including coming crying to my Hulk Hogan grandpa everytime my big neighbour bullies and scares me, asking my close friend Benny to wipe my ass every morning, and avoiding every river because I hate those big catfishes.
Turns out my devotion to Red God is not useless afterall, he won the poll again this time!! Horray!!

Between Drake and Apoo, Drake went undercover in Beast Pirates taking a huge risk of death
Apoo was just weak so he cowered to Kaido and then went undercover with Kidd and Hawkins like the little rat he is
On the Usopp vs Sanji leaving, Usopps was way worse, he left over a ship that couldnt be fixed, at least there was some moral to Sanji leaving if we're debating that specific topic

To be honest, the Supernovas in general are maddening. Only Kidd actually seems to care about the Pirate King title.
Law’s life goal was retconned from Pirate King to life long Doffy (that he did not act upon), Bege is a sadist that just likes fecking with folk, Bonney seems to be a pseudo-revolutionary, Drake is not even a feckin pirate and the rest seem to be pirates for shits and giggles.
As for Apoo going from a shitkicker that would willingly engage Admirals for no reason than to piss them off to a bloke that seeks the nearest muscle bound head honcho to hide under, well he is not the only Supernova to have a personality retcon.
Pre-TS Bege would viciously execute his own subordinates if they so much as tried to give him polite advice. Post-TS Bege openly states his fondness for said subordinates.
Pre-TS Law was a whimsical, laid back, sarcastic, playful shit stirrer. Post-TS Law is a serious, straight laced, high strung strategist.
Oda claimed to have created the Supernovas at the last moment and it feckin shows. The Supernovas are the most poorly executed, ham fisted, inconsistent group in the entire manga.
That would be Drake.
Anyway, as for Apoo, now my memory is a bit foggy on this but I do not seem to recall anywhere where Apoo was stated to have have joined Kidd’s alliance in order to spy on Kidd. He legitimately joined in order to kill Shanks which was the entire goal of the alliance.
It is just that Kaido literally dropped out of the sky and had a confrontation with Kidd which resulted in Apoo having to choose between a temporary ally of convenience and his literal boss.
If I am wrong and I am remembering things incorrectly then at absolute worst, Apoo is simply a snitch who snitched on a bloke who outright hated him.
He certainly did not betray Kidd as some folk seem to believe since there was never any trust between them to begin with.
