Powers & Abilities The visuals of Kizaru’s light powers are carrying this arc

I think he was holding out hope that Sentomaru would give up, considering he asked him to surrender already. Like delaying the inevitable of knocking Sentomaru out.
Made pretty self-evident by how their confrontation is framed by the manga itself tbh.
This part :

The moment Sentoumaru said that he doesn't care what side he is on as long he protects the old man he owes his life to (who is now an enemy of the WG) Kizaru starts being reminiscent of their first meeting :

The following panel is when he made peace with the fact that the mind of the kid he trained was definitely set and there was no going back. This felt like a farewell :

Before that scene he was roughing up Sentoumaru, showing him it was hopeless, but was still having the faint hope he may give up seeing how outmached he was. (Hence why he said he should surrender and asking why he was getting chummy with pirates)
Which is reason why he suddenly and mercilessly packed him up 5 seconds after this scene and later said he wished he could add "old friend" as things he was ordered to protect. Oh well, Sentoumaru made his choice. His job is more important than personal relationships

Well contrary to most of the reactions to this chapter, I don't think his character changed much at all, he's quite neutral like he's always been. He's boys with Sentomaru but he still wasted him without stressing at all. It is nice to see he holds Sentomaru dear, but ultimately it didn't change his actions or have him falter at all, he shows little hesitation nor does he seem to feel too bad for Sentomaru.
Agreed. It’s a scene that people tend to overlook for some reason, but when Kuma showed up on Sabaody it was the first time that Kizaru looked pretty upset. “Pirates can’t be trusted.” He doesn’t like pirates, and this chapter didn’t change that. If anything it just reinforced it with his dialogue with Sentomaru.
Post automatically merged:

Oda’s visuals tend to be the best when the opponents are not so disparate in size.
Logias also lend themselves well to really great visuals, and Kizaru’s is one of the best.
