The God Valley section of the flashback always seemed like it was deliberately skipped, but maybe it was because Oda wanted to include the whole story here in one flashback.
So now during these events we are witnessing in this Kuma story, Kaido may see the slaves talking about Joyboy, everything he represents and how he'll liberate the entire world.
Here Kaido might also realize what he must do to make Joyboy appear, he has to enslave to people. This would give Kaido a second option on how to save the world, either he accomplishes his original plan of bringing equality with a world of violence (by enslaving people and making them work in his factories) or these actions bring forth the hero that will liberate the world.
