Speculations Theory on the Secret of Kuma

#1
I believe most folks are of the assumption that the big secret of Kuma becoming a Pacisfista is Saturn forcing him to become the prototype purely for Bonney's safety. And it's a pretty solid assumption, but I feel like there's something underlying there that is missing, which is Vegapunk referring to Bonney likely having guilt over the situation if it's revealed. While it could just be due to the fact that her Father was willing to sacrifice himself for her, I feel like Oda may want to really punctuate trauma.

Now let me provide my pieces for the theory

First off we start with Vegapunk stating he did something terrible to Bonney. On its face, this feels like it's just about Kuma and the Pacifista project, but I'm wondering if there's more to this than just turning Kuma cybernetic. The thing that makes me question it is Vegapunk chastizing Luffy who knows what the deal is.

Next we have Bonney demanding for Vegapunk to turn her father back to normal and Vegapunk says he can't for a certain reason.

Now one could assume this is because Vegapunk is under the government and they won't allow it.

However, in an earlier chapter, Vegapunk had already revealed to Luffy that he intended to leave the government and take refuge in Elbaf. So any promises/ties to the Government were null and void.

It would make more sense if he went "I can't right now, but soon" but that isn't the angle he went with, it's like something currently active is preventing the possibility of reverting Kuma.

Now this section, I didn't remember as clearly as I believed I did. For some reason I assumed this whole dialogue coincided with Bonney discovering Kuma's memories, but it actually predates it. This means that it only really pertains to Vegapunk's time with Kuma and what happened then. So nothing to do with Ginny, Kuma's past as a slave or even bonney's early life.

Now we're gonna jump back a bit to Bonney's back and forth with Akainu. The narrative still has yet to square this point away. It may well be just about keeping Kuma in line, however the problem arises that Kuma has already gone through his complete transformation at this point. Why would Akainu be so concerned over keeping Kuma in line given how strong we know Akainu to be as well as the fact that Kuma is now fully a tool of the WG at this point. Knowing Akainu, if the leverage is already gone, why not just magma fist bonney and be done with it?

Which leads us to the latest chapter. Bonney's procedure is specified to be a stem cell transplant and we're further given highlight to Kuma's Bucaneer race and how it has some traits that have yet to be divulged.

Now this may be a stretch, but I believe the core secret isn't just that Saturn ordered Kuma to be transformed. Oda never gives away the core twist in the flashback leading dialogue. My theory is that Kuma told Vegapunk that in order to cure Bonney, following Saturns demands, the stem cells needed should be taken from himself. Underscoring his tragedy of self sacrifice, Kuma offered his actual body to heal Bonney.

This is good.

Do you think Kuma is also programmed to aid Vegapunk, if he is attacked? Since, just when Shaka gave the order to prepare for battle, Kuma activated.

The theory is interesting, but I understand this particular page differently. I think it's really just about keeping Kuma in line. Kuma has indeed already gone but Akainu refers specifically to "when I heard you'd run away from the government": that happened before the procedure ended. As we saw in Sabaody she was already a Supernova and Kuma was still making decisions for himself.

When Akainu says "but it's all over now" he may not be referring to catching Bonney, but to Kuma not needing to be controlled with a hostage anymore. That explains why she gets so angry at the remark saying he'll pay for it: he's talking about having turned his daddy into a mindless cyborg. It fits the timeline, since this was right after Marineford, and Kuma had his memories/personality wiped right before stepping into that battle.

My issue with this, is that Bonney wasn't treated as a non issue any more. CP0 even confirms this talking about constantly trying to capture her this late.

It's an interesting concept, but there is a slight flaw. Bonney and the rest of the Supernova started their adventure one year prior to arriving on Sabaody, which means she had escaped captivity a year prior.

So when Akainu says a shiver ran down his spine when he heard she escaped, that means it was prior to Kuma becoming a full Cyborg.
