Speculations There is a huge opportunity for Zoro's story, and character development.

How did Zoro know about Mihawk while living in Shimotsuki Village, when the people on the Baratie didn't?

Not to mention, Zoro himself implies he tried to get back to his village, but got lost and couldn't. Why would he try to go back home when he didn't even meet Mihawk yet? He's not the type to just give up.

Seems like he learned about Mihawk after the fact of leaving his village.
So then he trains with the guy who killed his father so he can take revenge him? It doesn't seem like what someone looking for revenge would do if he sought revenge on Mihawk he would immediately dismiss him.

To hell with this so-called character development and backstory. I've had enough with Oda's fuckery. One have to be complete moron to not see that he put no effort into this and there is absolutely no story here.

Just give me Mihawk vs. Zoro and get this over with.

I’d say that Oda could retcon it without it really effecting much. Thanks to Zoro not specifying the man by name in Chapter 8, the door is open to that. Followed one man out to sea, was looking for another man later when Zoro first met Johnny and Yosaku.

Like I said i don‘t think that Oda will go the revenge route- I don’t even think Oda will go any route- but there is room to tell that story if he wants to.

Like, this man did add Sabo and Uta into Luffy’s background, and a whole extra family to Sanji’s. What is being suggested to Zoro is way more low-key than both of them.
As I said, I preferably I don't like the idea of revenge and prefer something simpler about the beginning of his dream. If before the fight with Mihawk Oda explains the reason I presented I would be extremely satisfied, and this can be done in just one page.

Cool idea i like it for any other character. But not Zoro.

Here is my opinion. Whatever conflict against his father with any pirates should have ended and i do not think that Zoro is a character to hold a grudge "like luffy". Another scenario is that those pirate have been actually defeated and that gave Zoro a motivation to be "Stronger than anyone" mentality so he won't lose anyone. Which should tells us why he goes out of his way to protect Luffy.

well this is a nice possibility and would give zoro's backstory more depth
but i don't think oda cares to draw anything related to zoro's past at this point which is why he revealed this stuff in sbs..

Revenge makes sense if you were deeply connected to someone.

I doubt Zoro remembers his parents.
