And the shills of course defend with: "But better than OG Broly who didn't have a backstory and just scream Kakarot"
It's like some dudes here who make everything about 'muh backstory/character development', well some characters don't need it. And there can be instances where more exposure of the character backfire.
Like, clowns missing the ENTIRE SELLING POINT of Broly lmao.
Dude is an absolute badass monster who went insane because of how powerful he was. People like him
because he is insane and an unstoppable fighting machine (probably the first of the kind that combined this in anime, at least the first popular one).
The changed the core of Broly's character in Super, like everything in DBS it's also trash. DBS Broly was carried by just the animation pretty much. Years later, it will be the OG Broly that people will remember with fondness again, for this reason.
And what little backstory and character OG Broly has >> what the current trash is anyway. Instead of trying something 'more deep' in super, OG Broly had a backstory and character moment which perfectly describes him.
Idiots wanna pretend like "he hates Goku because he cried when Broly was sleeping as a baby and didn't allow him to sleep", but OG Broly's backstory is subtle. But what Goku's voice triggers in his is his PTSD of getting stabbed and being his planet blown up.
This was for this exact reason why it was aptly shown right at the moment Goku punched through his gut in the same spot he was stabbed as a baby, he instantly remembers Goku crying.
OG Broly's hatred of Goku is driven by his PTSD, in his insane mind he somehow connects all his suffering to Goku.
