Good day WG Yoho here and as i lay bare buck down to my socks nekked in bed after a 12 hr shift a thought crossed my mind what are the top 3 best and worst things about one piece
BEST-
1. All the fun and unique characters, I like how big the world is even random background characters all have different looks, different reactions, tell a different story most manga just gives you a generic faceless character thats no different than a lamp post, one piece background characters give more life to the scene.
2. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but i like how its kinda a retelling of famous stories all woven together into an original tale, green bit inspired by gullivers travels, dressrosa taking themes from Don Quxiote, Elbaf inspired by norse mythology and lore, Wano inspired by Momotaro, Usopp being the living embodiment of the voy who cried wolf to anyone whose read stories and legends know that one piece isn't a 100% original story but the way Oda adapts those stories into his own is genius
3- The Flashbacks, now i know not everyone likes Flashbacks they feel it takes away from the arc but imo the Flashbacks are some of the best parts of one piece, Robin's flash back seeing her tragix past, and connection to Saul, the ASL flashback meeting Sabo and young ace for the first time, the Law Flashback, Rebecca and Doffy Flashback where all amazing 👏,
Worst-
1. The over used tropes and gags, Sanji and Brook being perverts got old along time ago, Zoro having no sense of direction got old a long time ago, Frankys supeeeeer got supeeer old along time ago its been 29 years Oda can't come up with a new gag by now?
2. It feels like majority of the strawhats aren't working towards their own dreams but just trying to help Luffy accomplish his, now i know you can say oh Nami is working on a map of the world off screen, oh Robin is studying off screen chopper is practicing medicine off screen, why off screen it rather than showing the same tired old tropes over and over give us a scene of Robin combing through Vegapunks void century research, give us a scene of chopper studying medicine and administering shots, show us an episode of Franky actually buying the parts he needs to fix the ship rather than randomly showing up with everything he needs and fixing it in two hammer strokes, show him buildimg up the sunny to make it the ship of dreams or designing a new ship incase the sunny gets destroyed
3- Imu was introduced both too late and too soon, I like the idea of a secret puppet ruler thats been pulling the strings all along but if oda was going to go down that route he should of set up within the first 5 arcs, he could of shown the gorosei talking to a mysterious figure over den den mushi, he could of had Blackbeard say something about how a certain man high up killed his father, up until he randomly appeared as a blob there was no indication he ever existed there was no set up, we didn't even know about the empty throne until it was bought up in the same Arc imu eas introduced, now comes the to earlt part, you mean to tell me Luffy and the strawhats jumped from Kaido all the way to the literal final boss
There's 5 gorosei they could of went through a goresei and a few holy knights n this arc, some more in the next so on and so fourth until they got to imu, now that we've already seen a lot of what imu can do, when we see him in thr final battle it won't be interesting or surprising, we know about Domi, we know about Omen, the swords etc etc, we even know he has a transformation, theres nothing left to look forward too so oda managed to introduce the potential final villain both to late and to early
