Obito is not your typical villain. Man might have bad intention but his change of personality makes him goated.

No. He's the typical guy who became a villain then saying during the whole series that his mind cannot change but at the end becomes an ally because the main character uses the power of friendship.

Same thing for Pain. Everything was okay but Nagato decided to resurrect all Konoha inhabitants who got killed during the Shinra Tensei after Naruto said it's not good to be bad.
But at least, Pain had charisma, good OSTs, one of the best fight of all times and the SHINRA TENSEI.

Obito is basically Naruto if he falls into the wrong path. He have one of the coolest abilities and one of the best fight against Kakashi. What makes Obito an amusing villain is his backstory. He is one of the most misunderstood Naruto character, it's not like he wants to become a bad guy out of nowhere. He have a reason. He's like Nagato who also lost his best friend.

Kishi then brought him back in the war only to sideline him HARD. He could have used his bombs infinitely and decimated most of the alliance forces
