I get you haven't pay attention to the story because if you did you would know I can party and straight up combat is stronger out of the shinigami always have been. Even the manga and novel displayed this. So no there is no denial it's you thinking after all of hitsugaya prior performances before the Gerard fight he was looking that great against other opponents. We did against Gerard was impressive but it was also ineffective in the long run. Zaraki and byakuya have ways to do mortal damage to Gerard something that hitsugaya lacks in comparison.
