Powers & Abilities Two Powerups against Two Yonkos

#1
We were introduced to the awakening way back in Impel Down, but the real hype began when Doffy and then Katakuri were introduced as awakened Paramecia users. And many of us expected that we will get introduced to the real Zoan awakenings in Wano, which so far has unfortunately not happened. Then we get introduced to the ACoC which we did not exactly know when Roger and WB are shown in Oden's flashback (some can even say that Elizabello's King Punch is also an ACoC attack). And the real hype is brought when Luffy gets confirmation from Kaido in 1010 and the remark of only a handful of the very strongest can use it.

However in the same arc and in a small of span of chapters we get introduced to a total of 5 characters that are right there in Onigashima who can use ACoC, Kaido, BM, Luffy, Yamato and Zoro. But while the Kaido vs Luffy fight has mainly focused on the ACoC part the fight between BM vs Kidd & Law has been focused on DF awakening. Yamato and BM using ACoC has mostly been sort of an afterthought in the fights shown, I think most people don't even remember Yamato using ACoC apart from her Thunder Bagua (so weird that she copies her father's fighting style after hating him and fighting against him for so long). The Kidd and Law vs BM fight still has only shown us Paramecia awakening, we have yet to see the Zoan and Logia awakenings.

There might be an argument that both Kaido and BM are already awakened users (most people would expect the Yonkos to have awakening) but then I think that Oda has sort of balanced the power system that by not giving every powerup to these two like BM does not have FS. People say that OP fights are bad but I think they are a whole lot more interesting with all these different types of powers in play and the possibilities of other powerups to be introduced even later in a manga that is already 1000+ chapters long.

But there are 4 main characters who have been given the two different types of powerups. Luffy and Zoro have been given the ACoC powerup and Kid and Law have been given the awakening powerup. I think that if Luffy is also given awakening right now then it could at the same time been interpreted as Kaido being shown more powerful since Luffy needed both types of powerups to beat him (this will be needed I think if Luffy vs Kaido is a 1v1 until the very end) or that since it was 1v1 Luffy needed both powerups to beat Kaido.

I think that BM vs Kidd and Law is over and now we are free to speculate how Luffy vs Kaido will end. I still have a hard time believing that Oda will let Luffy solo defeat Kaido when it took two rivals to beat BM. I mean the Monster trio dynamic has been saved throughout and I would say that Oda will most likely also save the Captain trio dynamic (I think very fans would want a similar things like what happened with Naruto and Sasuke and now recently with Deku in Hero Academy).

Also what is that chapter 1049 reference, I have read it multiple times in the forum but I don't know what it is.

Trying to be fair, Kaidou had directly faced so many fighters before Luffy tho, while BM didnt become the primary target of Yamato or Zoro or 9 Scabbards. So its only natural Luffy face him solo now, at least Kaidou had also fought other powerful YC-class fighters even more than BM.

But we do have that Luffy comment of Kaidos Haki getting stronger in the drunken mode so although he was getting weaker as commented by Yamato with Kaido losing control of the flame clouds, the Kaido that Luffy is facing right now is probably the strongest version and Luffy solo beating Kaido at his strongest seems iffy to me.

I don't even understand what you are trying to say here.

Yall still think midd and law are luffy s rivals?
Rivals are those vying for the same goal, not necessarily having similar power. Luffy aspires to be the Pirate King, who also aspires this, is his rival, be it Teach, Kid or even Krieg.

This is the reason why Zoro and Sanji are not rivals, Zoro's aspiration is to be the strongest swordsman, who also aspires this, is his rival. Only if we consider that Zoro and Sanji are vying for the position of second strongest and vice-captain can they be considered rivals.

.
But thats what Luffy's role is all about in the story. Luffy surpasses The World's Strongest Creature in order to be closer to the throne of Pirate King. If he can't beat The Strongest, he can't become The One with The Most Freedom. Becoming the strongest of all is literally Luffy's core milestone in the narrative.
