Character Discussion Underrated parallel

#1
A lot of people here like to talk about parallels with different characters, so I thought I'd talk about one that always stuck out to me but doesn't get mentioned very often.

Nami and Koala

Aside from the obvious similarities in their character designs (Being orange-haired young women), their storylines contrast one another's

Both of them joined pirate crews that consisted of Fishmen, although for completely different reasons

Whereas Nami was enslaved by Fishmen and was later saved by humans, Koala was enslaved by humans and later saved by Fishmen

Due to their horrible childhoods, Nami and Koala both believed that they couldn't cry

But both break down in tears of joy upon finally being freed

Both received a tattoo symbolizing their oppression, but had it turned into a symbol of their liberation.

Despite their opposite experiences with them, Nami and Koala both came to understand the persecution that the Fishmen suffer under

As adults, Nami and Koala act as the voice of reason to Luffy and Sabo respectively

And they both get angry if and when they act like idiots

In spite of that, though, both Nami and Koala are shown to care deeply about them

Bonus: Similar interactions

With Arlong:

With Robin:

With Luffy/Sabo:
