Character Discussion Villains Caring About Underlings

#1
I think there is a general trope where the villains are shown as very selfish and self centered and that they use their subordinates as tissue paper, meat shield etc.
I think Enel and Crocodile are of those types. But we also have ones who care about their underlings like I think Moria (dont really remember), Doffy (definitely) and Kaido (mix, he cares about the core ones but not about the fodder).
Doffy and Kaido have shown actually caring for their subordinates. Doffy with his whole treating like family, Monet and Vergo convo, I think he saved Baby5 and Buffalo too. Kaido taking care of Hanafudas kids, saving Jack from Inu and Neko.
And here in Elbaf, Imu also seems to care what happens to his subordinates (mainly due to getting backlash if the HKs get killed). The guy has lived 800 years so the HKs are probably like children to him and we saw how he punished Saturn for failing. But his dialogue with Sommers doesn't feel like that of a typical, tyrannical ruler.

What do you guys think? Will Imu turn out to be more like Enel and Croc or more like Doffy and Kaido.

Imu? So far he uses his minions as tools. He had no problems with discarding Saturn. He propably only healed Sommers and Killingham because he sees them as still useful.
Tbh Saturn did something behind Imu's back that ended up being extremely costly. If he disposed of Emeth like ordered, Joyboy reincarnation would not have managed to escape

Anyway it's too early to tell but him being on a first name basis with Sommers is interesting

Also Talking rationally and Calm to them(recently when he Stated that „Arrogance etc. Must be cast Away“)

More like Doffy and Kaido, probably. I sort of hope not though, because I'm a little tired of the villains in this series always having that aspect. I want more of them to just be irredeemable pieces of shit even to their own subordinates.

I don't really think so.

It seems like Imu is very isolated and mostly communicates with the Gorossei and even then he does that for practical matters.

I think he values them as assets and care about them not being killed(which will affect him badly as with Harald) but i don't see it being something more than that.

Gorosei and Holy Knights are part/extensions/incarnations/puppets of Imu,
We still haven't met his actual Subordinates,

It's like We are meeting Moria's Zombies, We still haven't met his actual Allies like Absalom or Perona or Hogback.

Doflamingo doesn’t actually care about his subordinates. It’s them who delude themselves into thinking he does, which is no surprise since they’re all easily manipulable people.

They’re just his puppets, not a family.
