VIZ changed it to benevolence but if you look at the RAW it gives jihi aka mercy which is different.

If he had to cut it short because Zoro couldn't take more and was dying he would absolutely comment on him being alive, that he made it.

Which Zoro in turn says thanks to his mercy.

What are you talking about? Its thanks to Kuma’s mercy because Kuma could have just lasered Zoro to death… So Kuma choosing this pain option was the mercy… not that Kuma took some of the pain himself

The viz is implying that Kuma can’t put the pain in sea kings or trees because they can’t accept the pain

Unless Stephen Paul is making up words in the viz translation, him using the word “accept” implies that a human being must decide to take the pain or it doesn’t work
