Zoro Is Indeed stronger and Is the right hand man.
But you can't deny that both role and strength wise Zoro Is more like a Sanji+ than a Luffy-.
Zoro and Sanji are always paired together.
Wings, against commanders etc.
Of course Zoro has the upper hand, he's the strongest of the duo.
But It makes more sense to talk about Zoro and Sanji duo than Luffy and Zoro one.
Sanji Is #3 and he comes close to #2 Zoro.
Luffy Is something above.

I'm not against the people who discuss the power gap between them. I think that Luffy and Zoro are comparable and a duo. Both are conquerors and their dreams are strength related. Both are members of the WG and leaders of the next Gen. I’m not saying that they on the same lvl but clearly not far away. Luffy wants to surpass Shanks and Zoro wants to surpass Mihawk. I could list a lot more parallels and connections.
Of course Zoro and Sanji are also duo. They’re like bro's and trust each other. You can see Sanji as Zoro's right hand. Sanji doesn’t play in the same league as Zoro and that’s normal because his ambition is different. That’s doesn’t mean that Sanji is weak

Sanji was alongside Zoro MAIN fight.
Luffy defeats a Yonko.
Zoro just defeats the strongest Commander and Sanji the other Commander.

You can wank King as much as you Wish, he's still a Commander so logically wise he's gonna be more near to an other Commander than to Kaido.
And I already explained the INSANE and Huge Gap between Zoro and Luffy.
