I wouldn’t say it’s the same.
Franky was linked to Pluton back in EL, but it’s not his dream to create a new one or a ship that can surpass it. I don’t think he’s even mentioned Pluton or the Ancient Weapons since EL ended, and he wasn’t even included with Robin and Law when they found out its on Wano.
Wheres Law’s dream is just a part of Robin’s. He even specifically calls it finding out ancient history on Wano when he’s fighting Big Mom, and the two are having discussions about it and seeing Poneglyphs together.
There’s enough to let us know that Blackbeard cares about the general history of the One Piece world far more than Luffy, and I would imagine that him being a D will play a great deal into his research.
-he’s told his crew about his bloodline and how it plays a part in his great ambition
-his hobby is researching ancient history
-he’s deliberately following the path of fellow D Rocks, who died before Blackbeard was born. Named his ship after him, took his old island as his base, made a crew that has the same backstabbing, we’re in it for ourselves and only joined by one thing approach.
-he’s knowledgeable enough about the past to identify a Lunarian by sight and to know he needs a three eyes to read Poneglyphs
I think we’ll see that when Whitebeard was doing his drunken ramblings, Blackbeard was listening closely. It would not surprise me, given his sneakiness, if he listened in to at least some of Roger and Whitebeard’s last talk.
I have waited so long all I can do is have hope that when he gets off his desk and stops staring east it will be glorious
