How successful was Joyboy as a Pirate?
Joyboy turned out to be a man who was called the first pirate.
But how well was he at piracy?

We know during the war he has lots of allies but that is something else.
I am talking about his own pirate crew/organization.
Was he super successful, on par with Yonkos or he failed at piracy like Mihawk?

Mihawk is a vampire from Joyboy's crew.

Piracy in One Piece isn't just about being a Criminal or operating at Sea
It's about completely refusing the shackles of being Part of a Kingdom which allows anyone to be welcome to raise that Flag
It's basically a Faith that People can unite through, instead of being Separated by Borders & Families & Origin & Race ... etc
So Joy Boy opposed Kingdoms & welcomes Outcasts, similar to Luffy & Blackbeard & WB & Kaidou ... etc

Joy Boy can only be considered as Successful as Yonko if He manages to create a Country of Pirates
(Every Yonko share this Goal, They just seek it in different ways & with different Intentions)

However, it's said that Joy Boy is from Ancient Kingdom, meaning He didn't Create it himself, and it was further Confirmed in Last Chapter when Emet said that Joy Boy didn't become "King", there are also other Major Kingdoms that predates Joy Boy's Time so not that either, and only Allies We saw so far (Emet & Zunisha & Poseidon) don't seem to have any Place to go to

Actually, Joy Boy apologized to Poseidon for not being able to provide a Place for her outside Fishmen-Island, and Zunisha not only predates Joy Boy but it's also suggested that Mink Tribe were living in Isolation for a Thousand Years with no indication that They ever found a New Place for them during this Period

Only Island that can be associated with Joy Boy is possibly Pirate Island, He might be it's Founder, but the problem is that it's more like Bigger Jaya, Wang Zhi was it's Ruler before & yet wasn't considered a Yonko showing that it doesn't suffise by itself, and all Pirates seem to be welcome there, regardless of who They follow

But Joy Boy clearly & definitely still managed to inspire People to become Pirates, suggesting that instead of creating a Country, He at least made People not afraid to fight back against the Kingdoms that mistreated them or kicked them out

In my Opinion, when it comes to Piracy, Joy Boy wasn't as Successful as Yonko, i think He was like Ace/Sabo Type of Character.
He was Ultimate Inspirational Figure but didn't Score that High on Paper, so better than Mihawk but lower than Yonko imo

I was considering how the story first unfolded revealing more and more about Roger's past and his crew.
First we find out about whale dude and then we find out Roger was following JoyBoy's story.
So there are many parallels between Luffy, Roger and Joyboy.

As the arcs progress we found out more and more about the past and former allies of not only Roger, but also potential former allies of Joyboy: Zunesha, Iron Giant. Even Toki is from the ancient past she travelled fast forward in time.

Was Ryuma one of Joyboy's crew? It's not clear, but Wano was involved in the void century.

So the question arises whether Oars or others were part of it. And then next question is whether we met a former ally of JoyBoy in every previous arc. We did meet some at Fishman Island, Rayleigh for Roger, and some poneglyph from JoyBoy.

Then the next question is why was Mihawk "coincidentally" introduced so early in the story?

Depends on how piracy was defined then, was he just a rebel or was he a real pirate like BB etc. His influence though seems to be way bigger than a Yonko and when you look at Zunesha and Emeth you get the feel that he had very powerful associates or crew members. So JB was greater than Yonko level imo, greater than PK too based on having fought against WG makers.

Imo in terms of worldwide power current Dragon is more akin to OG JB. In terms of crew hunt I think Rocks would be closest to OG JB or Roger pirates at LT.

Emeth also said that he failed to make JB the King. Since there was no pirate throne or OP at that time then making JB king is not related to Pirate King but most likely to a kingdom or Ancient Kingdom or King of the World.

  • The pirate who transcended everything (Kaidou with his individual strength)
  • The first pirate (Joy Boy)
  • The Pirate King (Roger)
  • The strongest pirate (Kaidou and Whitebeard were called this)
  • The most heinous pirate in the world (Perhaps Rocks D. Xebec)

If Primebeard was the Hashirama of Naruto, the peak performance of the modern era with only one other rival who could relatively compete (Roger/Madara), then Joyboy is Hagoromo.

Joyboy is God-tier and above everyone we know so far until further notice

Kaido did not transcend shit.

Joyboy was above yonkou as shown by his df disabling haki display that not even Gear 5 can pull (an actual Yonkou)

Vastly above everybody in the verse. Wifi haki head explode diffs Mihawk, Ryuma, EOS Zoro, all admirals, all Yonkos etc etc at the same time level.

There is 1 thing Joy Boy did the Yonko didn't. is going to war with the whole world. Something Kaido was planning this whole time only to be defeated by Joy Boy.
