The sky split was first seen in chapter 434 between WB and Shanks and ever since we have been waiting to see Luffy do it.
When it happened this chapter i was a bit underwhelmed, i feel it may have been better for it to happen earlier although i know Oda is signaling this is the final battle.
I also think it would have been better for the attack to span the whole double spread instead of the tiny little corner it got. Is it just me?

Also the attacks of WB vs Shanks and Kaido vs BM had the attacks actually connect instead of the AdCoC not touching thingy, is this a retcon by Oda ?

I think it looks underwhelming because it also happened on the same chapter where Oda lolnoped Jack despite Jack having been built since 2015.

t was not retconned.yamato clashed with adcoc too and it did not split the sky. 1026 means luffy with adcoc crossed the sky splitting threshold.

It just means that Luffy needs CoC infusion to split the sky whereas the Yonkos can do it casually no CoC

If kaido and Big Mom had been using ADCOC v2, untouchable, they would have replicated Roger vs WB, only ONIGASHIMA would have been completely destroyed from the inside.

Likewise with Shanks and WB, in which they were under a ship.


The first stage requires a lot of physical strength, because there is direct contact of the two weapons colliding, while stage 2 is apparently just COC colliding and ignoring the force behind it.

It's like katakuri and luffy in WCI, using ADCOC against each other.

It doesn't require physical force from behind, just ADCOC colliding between them.
I don't think luffy at BASE is able to do this with the strength he has, I guess G4 luffy might be able to.

It did feel a bit underwhelming as a moment tbh, like it was passed over without too much second thought. I think it's the second time Oda makes the same mistake in this arc, the first was with Zoro's scarring Kaido.

Why ignoring the force behind? Are you assuming other stats bar CoC don't count in an ACoC clash?

1. It was not underwhelming. Only certain fanbases hates the fact that Luffy is a top tier now.
2. It was not retconned. Adv CoC was always a thing pre-skip. Some Adv CoC attack can be touched like Kaido's Ragnarok for example.

Oda came up with "non-touching" CoC Haki the chapter of the Roger/Whitebeard fight. No evidence of it existing before then.
