Teach's ancestor,

I don't think someone necesarilly betrayed Joyboy, but they couldn't live up to Joyboy's task, and need Nika's help,

Joyboy said to Emeth "I will save you from the past, hasn't it always been like that?!" in a pose where he may have been happy and laughing,

Edit: Emeth also looked like he was agreeing and he was happy and relieved,

I was thinking that perhaps could be Teach's ancestor, so that could explain why Imu sees them equally big threats, perhaps once Joy Boy and Teach's ancestor work together vs Imu, thats why Imu is afraid of both equally.

I think it went something like this

Joyboy was the heir apparent/King of the Ancient Kingdom

He lost the throne to Teach's ancestor. Some of Joyboy's allies/subordinates went over to the ancestor(including Zunesha, I think that might have been the crime).

Teach's ancestor ruled as a tyrant. The 20 kingdoms revolted against him. It ended in a 3 way war with Joyboy getting involved before he died that left the Twenty Kings, or maybe Imu as the last people standing
