Speculations Was Xebec a misunderstood hero?

Roger wasn’t a good guy, he just also wasn’t a villain. Like Luffy, his calling was adventure and he had no interest in dominating others.
Rocks made it his life’s ambition, and committed all kinds of criminal acts to get there. Murder, kidnapping and theft didn’t seem to slow Rocks down one bit.
I suspect the definitive origin flashback for Rocks won’t be covered until Blackbeard’s fight with Imu reaches its conclusion some time next year. Then we’ll learn more about the motivations of father and son.
Calling him a hero now is absurd though. Type of shit I expect from dudes with the literacy of a potato.

lol what rocks' motivation was to take down Imu that was declared at his introduction then again at his ending when he directly referenced joyboy and davy.. rocks knows the truth of the world and the void century and knew imu was a false king and attempted to defeat and overthrow him.
roger only found it out at the end of his life and stated they were too early such as rocks was but roger couldnt even act on it cause he was dying..

Oda mislead fans at start as Rocks was introduced as shady/evil but ended up redeeming him. Instead it was his crew that consisted of all kinds of pirates that didn't hesitate even killing crewmates.
Rocks is same guy that was even against killing Harald, who was hunting him siding with WG.
In the end Rocks was all about fulfilling his Davy family legacy which is natural as they were being hunted to this day by WG.

We also don't know Roger's motivations or what he knew starting out. We do know he invited Rayleigh to turn the world "upside down" with him. Given his lack of interest in territory, it's possible that phrase reflected Roger having some knowledge of the lore. We won't know until we get the Roger Pirates flashback.

Do you think it's coincidental the dude that wanted to dominate the world didn't have any followers that were actually loyal to him? He recruited most of his crew through Davy Back Fights. NONE of them tried to save him in the end. They abandoned him at his time of greatest need.

Roger was immortalised in legend, Rocks was erased from history. Roger embraced death on his own terms, Rocks was rushed into an early grave. Roger died smiling, Rocks died confused and crying.
