Yeah it seems like they're in the front lines screaming nuclear launch codes at the headquarters
Well, I guess you haven't truly played Dota unless the Russian dude playing Sniper starts cussing you out like he's a priest holding a sermon - in russian.

And they were on every fucking server too, even the American ones from my memory. Maybe not as many, but they were an inevitability.

At some point Russia got their own server; if it had any impact, it was so insignificant that you'd hardly notice it.
When asked about it they always reply with something to the effect of; "Fuck that, I don't wanna play with those guys"

Got my eyes rolling every time.

And well, since I haven't really played Dota since the whole Ukraine thing popped off, idk how the landscape looks today. I think that it's a bit more hospitable now

I didn't got the chance to get that far xD but i got the gist of it i tried a couple of games to find some english speaking people who cold explain me something but 4/5 teammates were called something like Хард-хаус ( i was the 5th )

As someone who has met too many russians playing Dota 2 over the years, I can tell you that in a setting where team-communication is important - being queued with russians posed a big challenge, as they either 1. refused to speak english regardless of their ability to
or 2. reaches critical mass and explodes like a lemming, now making it his mission to shit talk you and curse you out non-stop - In russian of course. With the occasional "dog water" comment

Just to grossly generalize my experience, they were in fact usually much worse. But some were okay.

I was at my peak anger levels back then, but I too reached critical mass, and got the ephiphany of how pointless and exhausting it is to be so worked up and angry all the time - I've never been able to be angry for extended periods of time since.
Not going to say I've never been angry since, that's a blatant lie, but I am much harder to anger now than back then.

There are certain topics that gets my blood boiling faster than others, but if I reach boiling point I kind of just let it go - and move on.
Dota looks fun I never got around to playing it tho

I did watch the animated series on Netflix and that was a great watch the animation reminded me of last air bender

Ivan and Comrads has occupied the lobby, watch in awe as Dimitrji gets his rampage (pentakill for you LoL nerds) with Alexej using his vodka induced strategies to support his lads.

You feel like you've been misplaced and don't belong, but you hear how they're effectively communicating with each other even though the only words intelligible to you is "cyka blyat" "idi nahuy" and any variants and mixes of those words.

You have no idea what's going on, you're the sideliner. Ivan and his Gamer Gang is locked in, you're in Ivan's world now.

Truth be told, Dota has a relatively high skill floor, it might be a bit overwhelming for newer players. So at the very least I wouldn't reccomend skipping the tutorials and go straight into matchmaking; you'll probably have a bad time lmao

Though, unlike when I was a new player, the tutorials are much better and you have a lot more tools to learn the game now.

I'm not a new player anymore, so I can't really speak to how the new player experience is for the game, but I do know it's MUCH better than when I was new.

It's kinda a meme, but it's also one of those things that's funny because it's kinda true, that says "LoL is the Dota tutorial"

I survived only one season in my d2 journey, I do not know why, but I had 1-2 afks in almost every single game, so the games always ended in stomps/and were unbalanced as fk because of this
The majority of leavers were russians, East folks; short tempers and unironically bad internet were the norm for these gentlemen.
