General & Others Were the samurai a false hype by Oda who turned out to be a disappointment?

That’s the point. Wano is a shell of its former self but the WG was still unsure because they’re so closed off from the rest of the world.

Imagine Old Oden+Hyogoro+Scabbards+Shimotsukis with multiple Zoro-level fighters+Adult Momonosuke trained by Prime Oden+hundreds of thousands of gifter-level soldiers.

That is terrifying to imagine. Probably one of the reasons Kaido decided to snuff out their power early on.

He probably wants to be cautious because he doesn't know how strong the Samurais are, and if he encounters several Samurais that were comparable to Ryuma then he is pretty much screwed so he didn't go directly to avoid problems.
I think his choice was sensible and legitimate. There was no substantial reason to risk to sacrifice an admiral just for being impatient. After all he simply observed how things would have been developed which doesn't always equate to more threatening in fact yonko often fight amongst themselves and an alliance is not necessarily persisting.

kinda weird that WG or CP 1-9 never place a spy in wano so they can know the true power of wano country sakazuki only rely of info 20 years ago where samurai still strong :choppawhat:
they should have spy in kaido army too so WG n marines know what kaido up to in wano ....

The samurai are great. Who are you even comparing them to? Kyros was the only decent warrior in his country. All of Alabasta's squad got wrecked by two 80 mil pirates. Fishman Island got conquered by Hody. Aside from Hancock I don't think the Amazons had anyone tougher than Asura Doji. Same with Skypiea and Ener. Etc

The only country even close is Zou... where all of its warriors sail into Wano to liberate it too.

Well, there is one spy in X-Drake and as for others maybe the Ninja are good at weeding out Government spies?

There are countries with weaklings running around as their strongest warriors like Pell for Alabasta and Dalton for Drum Island. While Kyros is heads and shoulders above those two he's still fodder compared to the Nine Scabbards who were simply Oden's forces in Kuri.

Yeah, Kyros is basically a dollar store Inu.

The idea is that the government wouldn't have had any idea of the opposing forces in Wano. If they showed up to take on Kaido's crew on their home turf that would be a tall order. I mean King would kick their asses on the waterfall before most even arrived. If the five thousand warriors (Scabbards, hyo, Yakuza, ninja, minks, etc) turned out to be on Kaido's side? Worst campaign in history

Oda made a false hype. But Akainu based on Oden had good reasons to not invade Wano since in his mind they were sided with Kaido and Orochi.

Oda usually fake hypes a lot bit in this case, I don't really see it.
Even Kaido didn't dare attack them frontally and waitzd for Orochi to do his snaky work first.
