Controversial What bothers you about this flashback?

Am I the only one whos extremely disappointed that this has turned into another damsel in distress situation? odas writing is so stale and repetitive and predictable.

And yes Xebecs is there for another reason but then why include Shakky? She's literally not needed. I could make up 50 other narrative decisions to get the rocks pirates, roger pirates and garp on there. 1 of them being garp pulls up wherever Roger is anyways.

This entire arc Roger just looks like a bum with no ambitions and just gooning. Yes, Xebecs still looks good but this shakky sht is just unnecessary. Nobody asked for her nor is she needed in this story. If you remove her from this arc NOTHING changes except the fact this thankfully isnt goon piece anymore.

And all these braindead fans saying "pirates are horny its totally logical youre just a hater" sums up why One Piece is still popular even with sht superficial writing like this. OP fans have 0 standards and are on the same level as demon slayer or other big mainstream manga.

Feel free to disagree or agree or to add other things that bother you.

I think that it's one of the finest flashbacks we've ever had, the only thing that bothers me is Shakky's situation. I'm trying to ignore it for now, as I expect that God Valley will have the Davy Clan as the main focus.

That shakky stuff that clearly was a last minute addition

Roger is also giga boring. Like people were whining about Roger being formed into a Luffy clone but instead he is a diet coke generic guy that is not fun to read about him at all imo, very unentertaining character like dragon and co.

Don’t forget though, we’ve not actually gotten the real, proper Roger flashback yet.

So far, all the flashbacks involving him have been heavily obfuscated and/or told from a distant perspective.

There is still so much to learn about Roger, who, as far as we know, appeared from nowhere like a force of nature.

We know he had the hat before he met Rayleigh, but not what it means. Did he already know about Joyboy? Did it have something to do with Voice of All Things?

We also know he was a demon with Haki, so his willpower was obviously insane - what was the drive behind it?

Did it have anything to do with Roger’s sense of clear purpose when he met Rayleigh?

I’m not bothered by Roger parts so far, because I expect that to be covered when we get to Gaban’s flashback sequence.

They could be more intressting about Roger, sure, its obviously not his flashback
That doesnt really change my perspective as reader currently however.
I just dont find it entertaining in this flashback

Shakky’s role in the flashback went from okay gag to the reason why the second biggest event in OP happened. So that sucks.

Beyond that, my only complaint is wanting to see more chapters focus on the young Roger pirates or Rock Pirates more. More flashes of their adventures and such.

It’s certainly flawed.

I think Roger’s run-in with Shakky at sea was fine, but I don’t like how we skipped past so much to Roger and Rocks beefing without us having any context on their relationship.

I expect that will be covered eventually, but it’s jarring.

There’s more to criticise, of course, but I’m generally enjoying it so far.

Yeah thats a thing too like we skipped 1 year atleast without getting up to how Rocks Pirates and Roger clashed and other stuff

For all we know so far the only things Roger pirates did up to god valley was running chasing shakky and fighting garp :josad:

I'm not quite as bothered by the Shakky stuff but it's so out of place being positioned in a narrative involving genocidal entertainment and racial cleansing. There are more clever and interesting ways of forcing the Roger and other Rocks pirates to engage in this conflict.

I'm hoping for a tonal shift with Roger once he witnesses the atrocities first hand.
