General & Others What could be the extremely horrible thing that made Garp say..

What could be the terrible thing that happened that made Garp say the following:

I find it hard to imagine that he'd say this for something as small as just 1 person getting killed. Surely Neptune isn't gonna fear just because 1 person was killed. I feel that there is involvement of a larger scale that happened regarding the Kingdom of Alabasta, maybe the World Government has moved it's forces against it? Or could it really just be the 1 single death of Kobra or vivi that made Garp say that? Because he just doesn't say "don't be fearful to go to the surface", but he adds on "human beings" to it, this to me implies something extremely terrible had happened that would put a horrible image of humans towards the fishmen.

He also said the marines are using their full resources to solve the matter. What would be the huge matter that requires the full resources of the marines? 1 death at reverie wouldn't warrant full marine resources.

I would like to hear any possibilities you guys might have for this event.

This was the same chapter that Blackbeard said he was gonna take “it” from the Marines, right? Context clues imply (to me, at least) that his remark as well as Garp’s both have something to do with the discovery and/or activation of an Ancient Weapon, likely Pluton.
Yup same chapter. Then we can also add on pre-reverie thing with Vivi being singled out and the talk of extinguishing the light.

Pluton's location being leaked and every pirate in the world gunning for it. Reason why the Strawhats, BM/Kaido don't know yet is because of Wano being isolated. This is what Blackbeard is also gunning for and will most likely get.

They don't have the resources to deal with it all and arrest the Shichibukai as well. This is why they can't lend help to Wano right now. Clearly it's something far worse than Big Mom or Kaido teaming up, as they are prioritizing one over the other.

I wonder if there will be any parallel between BB and Franky in the future. Or even BB and Vegapunk.

Considering they didn’t think that a Yonko alliance and the impending clash of powers in Wano was enough to merit their full attention, something that DOES would have to be truly seismic, like the activation of a weapon capable of destroying the world. Lotta smoke coming from the Alabasta contingent for there to be no fire...

Very reasonable, I want to build on this idea by asking, who would've leaked the locations for that?? and what does that have to do with the negative impact it would have for neptune as far as human beings are concerned? Marines taking out pirates wouldn't be viewed bad.

Honestly, not to turn this into a Vegapunk thread, but I truly think Vegapunk's arc is next and will revolve Franky, like how WCI/Wano have been Sanji/Zoro "centric" (in a way) and Usopp's will certainly be with Elbaf.

Franky was the first to encounter Kuma post-timeskip and warned everyone he will be an enemy in the future. He is the only person to actually spend time on his home island and rebuild himself. Now we have so much setup related to Vegapunk it's not even funny:

- Near constant references to the character every arc since Thriller Bark. It's been getting more an more frequent lately too.

- Both Caesar and Judge have history with the character, and both have not yet been seen again the story, leading me to believe we will see them next in relation to the Vegapunk plotline.

- Same with Smoker/Tashigi. Unseen during the ENTIRE Reverie, indicating they were still with the children at Vegapunk's lab.

- Heavy plot connections during the Reverie with Kuma, Bonney and Sabo. Indicates the Revolutionaries may be trying to get him back if they weren't successful at the Reverie, which they likely weren't (I have this theory that Kuma teleported himself and Sabo grabbed onto him, therefore making him disappear and why the inaccurate report of him dying was reported).

- The SSG and his new weapons have been referenced twice now during Wano.

I'm starting to think that whatever "small" island they go to next after Wano (Possibly Beehive to learn more about Blackbeard in his absense while he's away getting Pluton), they will come across Caesar again. Bonney will also be present and they will hilariously win and drag Caesar to sneak them to Vegapunk's location (assuming he knows it). Luffy's motivation will be to find Sabo. The main drive of a Vegapunk arc will be to get back Sabo and Kuma before the final war, as well as find out why Kuma gave his body up in the first place, while possibly also ruining SSG plans or preventing their weapons from being used. We'd get more Revolutionary characterization and set them up for those future battle against CP-0 (which I feel like is happening at this point). I could also see Franky fight Kuma, Pacifista to Pacifista.

Idk, just fun/interesting things to think about but I do this do think it's next. But I do sincerely think Vegapunk and the rest of the Underworld related plotline is next. We'll probably see Crocodile again before the final war.

General theory I personally have is that Cobra was killed after leaking the location himself. Wapol overheard it (due to being a nosy fuck and following Cobra) and leaked this info to Morgans. It was implied that Cobra knew what the Poneglyph said in Alabasta, as he openly tells Robin that it was not Alubarna history, but Pluton's location, meaning he knows that she was good natured in trying to prevent Crocodile from getting the weapon. If Neptune/Shirahoshi hear about this, it's certainly justified as to why they'd be afraid of humans, not to mention the entire world going ballistic trying to find this weapon. It's the chaos that makes the humans scary, not Marines vs. Pirates.

I have a whole thread on this
