Valid feat it is but not same level feat. Also depends a lot in what moment of their life they were.

For example Luffy was weak as a kid. A bit strong when he set sail, got stronger at Enies Lobby etc. Post timeskip he is a hell of lot stronger and now he is top tier.

Shanks is somewhat similar to that. He just needed more time to become top tier. So if Teach scarred Shanks when they were kids is not as impressive as Mihawk and Shanks fighting when they are already grow up.

Remember that WB himself stated Mihawk and Shanks fights were legendary. Can we say the same about Teach scarring Shanks? A legendary feat/moment?

We know bb scared him between 19-13 years ago
Since he wasn't scared when he found uta but was when he met luffy. How strong was shanks idk but we also dont know when he and mihawk fought either tbf

The Key thing that's mentioned before introducing Crocodile's bounty is the Marines saying the intercepted singles for Crocodile and Mihawk that confirmed their involvement (reference to when Mihawk was talking to Crocodile when Marines had him surrounded).

-> He's one of the two commanders of a Yonko crew, who's captain rivals Shanks (in image)
-> He was able to get Dracule Mihawk to join him
-> Outside of CQC his Devil Fruit is OP (just like most Logia are). Much like how Enel is a scrub in CQC once somebody can hit him, but outside of that has a OP DF. Croco is the same way, if somebody can actually get into CQC with him he gets trashed even by mid-tiers. But issue is how powerful his DF outside of that. Casually putting down tornadoes and etc.

Hence Crocodile's bounty is specifically about his Logia powers, Intelligence & Leadership. The intelligence having to do with being able to recruit Dracule Mihawk (and any potential plans he might've discussed with him off-panel during that call to convince Mihawk). And the leadership due to being 1 of the three faces of Cross Guild. But leadership is the main one out of the three.




Just as Buggy got his bounty from being able to command Mihawk and Crocodile, along with once standing shoulder to shoulder with Shanks:




That's why Oda made sure to clarify everything regarding their formation and clarify why on the poster... which again makes Buggy look like the leader and Crocodile look like somebody who's a peer to Mihawk:






In short: Crocodile leached off of Mihawk, like Buggy did. Mihawk on the other hand got his bounty for just being that strong. We don't know his previous bounty, if it was 3.3 billion and he just got an addition of 200 mil.. not a big deal. You get the point. Where as somebody like crocodile went from at max 240 mil (Oda's projected bounty of him if the Marines knew about his organization and what not) to now 1.9 billion after Cross Guild.


Basically Mihawk turned one into a Yonko, and the other into somebody close to a Yonko (Teach's as emperor was 2.2 bil). There's no "retconning" Oda is doing here with these characters. It's just Mihawk's hype using Buggy & Crocodile's bounty as the tool. (And partially Shanks hype since Buggy's hype is in part due to Shanks as well). Just Oda showing how PERCEPTION is a huge thing, something he's been doing since the start of the manga.

No not entirely, but partially.

Oda said post-albasta if the marines knew about Croco's baroque works stuff, his bounty would've been about double what it is, if he was active. Meaning 160 mil - 200 mil max. So before MF he was worth that much. Did he do anything at MF to warrant 1.9 bil? nope. Simply look at Jinbei's bounty after that.

Over timeskip, we know all major events that took place. Blackbeard with everything he did, got a bounty of 2.2 bil. Did Crocodile do anything like that? nope, even in the cover stories we just see him chilling in random places with Daz.

So with this in mind

In the Cross Guild chapter what does Oda highlight first? The Cross Guild and how it came to be. Crocodile called Mihawk when the Marines had surrounded him to join up with him. And then we get the posters where people think Buggy is the leader because of his picture being above Crocodile and Mihawk's.. So people wouldn't think anything of Crocodile's picture being on par with Mihawk's? Surely that's not gonna be the case.

From there on when we get to the marines. What's the one of the first things we're told? That Marines had intercepted the calls between Mihawk & Crocodile to confirm they're in it together (which wouldn't be hard since they had already surrounded his island and would be able to intercept any call he receives, consider they intercepted BM & Kaido's).

So Marines hear Crocodile inviting Mihawk to form an organization, and Mihawk agrees (for w.e background he has with Crocodile). They also more than likely heard some of the plans Crocodile talked off-panel in order to full convince Dracule, who knows. But yea then he came in to destroy couple of warships where the strongest guy was Stainless. After this, they see Crocodile's image right next to Mihawk's as if they're equals in this...

So being a Commander of similar caliber as Mihawk in an Organization that's considered a legit Yonko Crew...would have 0 relevancy to his bounty?


And of course I'm sure Mihawk's bounty got a few hundred mil raise for the shit with the marine fleet he did and now Cross Guild. Cause that's how the marines work, they give bounties to criminals when big shit happens.

The MC of the series had a fraudulent bounty of 1.5 mil after all the things he did, you think Crocodile having a 1.9 mil bounty isn't fradulent despite doing less than Jinbei?

Crocodile isn't mihawk's subordinate or friend prior to asking mihawk to team up with him

Mihawk decided to team with crocodile because they both gain something out of it. Even with mihawk being stronger they view eachother as equals when it comes to their alliance

Seems like most of those increase for Mihawk, Croco, Buggy and even Jinbei is from the fact that they were at some time former Warlords and the WG is putting the capture of them as high priority, to try save face from having allied with Pirates.

I'm expecting Weevil, Kuma, Hancock and even Moria to also get huge increases based on this
