If he was cooking something for Sanji, he would have had Sanji had a show off of speed with Kizaru.

Instead he chose to have Sanji counter the laws of physics by blocking Kizaru's lasers thanks to the power of love.

So no for Sanji's power ups, physics or logic don't apply. It's love first (so plot) then logic last.

But then again it's the same thing for every character that obeys to their own rules.

Ultimately, plot matters more than powerscaling in OP. Another example would be Zoro vs Lucci where Zoro wasn't serious because if he was free to go wherever he could he would have messed up the balance between the good guys and the bad guys.

Oda drew a color spread with Zoro NOT getting lost in a race.

Zoro's race has no finish line, no first, or last place.

Zoro is NZika.

Oda will make it more obvious to us with Nothing Happened 2 coming up.

Zoro's closeness to Chopper also makes more sense now.

If Speed is the weapon, then Speed is weight and weight is memory.

Zoro's true family arc is from the First World.

Sanji having his Kizaru moment here too^. Well he did it first to be fair lol.

Can't forget these too:

Sanji is The Flash and Quicksilver of One Piece.

He is able to casually reach speeds such as 500 times the speed of light. He has moved and ran so fast, that he was capable of outrunning and defeating death itself (the Black Flash) by outracing it to the end of time/space, past entropy, the next Big Bang, and into the next Universe.

Sanji and The Flash: A Comparison of Characters, Abilities, and Potential

Sanji from One Piece and The Flash from DC Comics share several similarities, especially in their speed-based abilities and the personal struggles they face with their powers. From battling personal demons to facing the consequences of their speed, both characters evolve through their journeys of self-discovery. Here's how they compare:

1. Superhuman Speed

  • Sanji: While not a traditional speedster, Sanji's superhuman speed comes from his physical enhancements and natural agility. Post-time skip, Sanji’s abilities are significantly amplified with the Raid Suit. This suit not only boosts his speed but also allows him to turn invisible, making him even more formidable in battle. This ability directly parallels The Flash's Speed Force, giving him a whole new level of stealth and agility in combat.

  • The Flash: The Flash’s power is rooted in his connection to the Speed Force, which gives him god-like speed, time manipulation, and other abilities. Barry Allen can phase through objects, vibrate at light-speed, and even travel through time—all thanks to his speed. Sanji's invisibility via speed is akin to Flash's ability to blur his image and evade attacks effortlessly. Both rely on speed as their primary form of offense and defense.
2. Speed-Related Abilities and Combat Styles

  • Sanji: Sanji’s primary combat method revolves around kicking techniques, using his speed and precision to overwhelm opponents. His Diable Jambe supercharges his speed with fiery legs, while the Raid Suit enhances his natural abilities, allowing for better maneuverability and the ability to move unseen. The combination of speed and stealth with the Raid Suit gives Sanji a stealth advantage, allowing him to strike unpredictably—very much like The Flash’s speed at work.

  • The Flash: The Flash uses his speed to land lightning-fast punches, create shockwaves, and even manipulate objects at a distance. His ability to phase through walls or time travel makes him even more versatile. Both characters use speed as an unpredictable weapon, blending offense with evasion. The Flash can vibrate to become intangible, much like how Sanji can become invisible with the Raid Suit, taking advantage of their speed to surprise their enemies.
3. Grit and Personal Struggles

  • Sanji: Sanji's emotional journey is deeply tied to his mother, Sushi, who died due to his father’s actions. Sanji blames himself for her death because he feels that if he hadn’t been born the way he was, his mother might have lived. His internal conflict revolves around the Vinsmoke family, especially his father, Judge Vinsmoke, who genetically altered him to be an emotionless weapon. Sanji rejects the cold, enhanced nature of the Vinsmokes and embraces his humanity, even when faced with the temptation to become something more powerful. His struggles with his identity, and the fear that his enhancements might turn him into a monster, are akin to the challenges faced by The Flash.

  • The Flash: Barry Allen's backstory involves the tragic loss of his mother and the imprisonment of his father, with his powers often reminding him of the price he paid for them. Barry must also balance his desire for justice with his personal connections, much like how Sanji is constantly torn between the two sides of his nature—his human emotions and his Vinsmoke legacy. Both characters struggle with internal conflict while coming to terms with their abilities.
4. Reverse Flash / Black Flash and Sanji’s Dark Mirror

  • Black Flash: In the Flash comics, Black Flash is a personification of death for speedsters, representing the corruption of the Speed Force and the inevitable destructive nature of speed when it’s used recklessly. Black Flash shows up to claim those who have pushed their speed too far, illustrating that there’s a dark side to powers that seem limitless.

  • Sanji: Sanji’s Vinsmoke heritage serves as his own version of Black Flash. His genetic modifications, especially those forced on him by his father, Judge Vinsmoke, are a constant reminder that he could become like his family—cold, emotionless, and a mere tool for combat. The Raid Suit is a powerful enhancement that gives him tremendous abilities, but like the Black Flash, it represents a potential loss of self. Just like the Black Flash comes for speedsters who abuse their powers, Sanji fears that the Raid Suit and its enhancements might slowly erode his humanity, pushing him toward becoming the very thing he rejects: a cold, genetically modified killer.

  • Sanji's Raid Suit: The Raid Suit is his most significant parallel to the Speed Force in terms of enhanced abilities. While it grants him greater power, it also symbolizes the danger of becoming something he despises. The Raid Suit enhances his speed, but its power comes at a cost—just as the Speed Force offers immense power to The Flash but can also have a dark side. The Black Flash might come for Sanji if he loses himself to the power of the suit, just as the Flash faces the existential threat of the Speed Force corrupting him. (It also makes me think of the dark dragonballs in DBGT and how they became corrupted by people overusing them, especially for selfish and or minor or even actually evil reasons.)
5. Villains and Antagonists

  • Sanji: Sanji's main antagonists are often his Vinsmoke family, especially his father, Judge Vinsmoke, who embodies the cold, calculated nature that Sanji could have inherited. His battle against his family is as much about personal identity as it is about defeating physical enemies. The Vinsmokes represent the potential corruption of Sanji’s abilities, pushing him toward a future he desperately wants to avoid. His father’s actions, including his mother’s death, fuel Sanji’s deep desire to reject the family and become someone better than the monster his father created.

  • The Flash: Reverse Flash, Eobard Thawne, is the dark mirror to Barry Allen, representing the twisted version of what Barry could become if he were to abandon his humanity. Similarly, Black Flash is a manifestation of death for speedsters who misuse their powers. Thawne’s obsession with Barry and his willingness to manipulate the timeline are symbolic of what might happen to Barry if he loses his sense of self. Both Sanji and The Flash must deal with enemies who reflect the corrupting influence of their power.
6. Shared Themes of Family and Identity

  • Sanji: Sanji's arc is centered around rejecting the cold, emotionless Vinsmoke legacy and fighting for his humanity. The Vinsmoke family symbolizes what he could become if he gives in to his genetic enhancements. The Raid Suit represents the temptation of this enhanced power, and Sanji’s internal battle is about keeping his identity intact despite the fear that he might lose himself.

  • The Flash: Barry Allen’s story also deals with the theme of identity and family. His connection to the Speed Force is both a gift and a curse, as it gives him immense power but also isolates him from the rest of humanity. The Reverse Flash represents what Barry might become if he allows his obsession with speed to overtake his sense of self. Both characters grapple with the idea that their abilities might define them in ways they don't want, and that embracing their power could have devastating consequences.

Conclusion

While Sanji and The Flash come from vastly different universes, they share striking similarities in their use of speed, their internal battles with identity, and their struggles to avoid the corrupting influence of their powers. Sanji’s Raid Suit represents a potential dark path, much like how Black Flash is a reminder of the dangers that await speedsters who push their power too far. Both characters’ abilities make them formidable, but they also represent a double-edged sword—the more they rely on their enhancements, the more they risk losing themselves.

Sanji’s emotional connection to his mother's death due to his father’s actions only adds to his struggle, making his battle more personal. His desire to avoid becoming the cold, calculated killer his father intended him to be mirrors the struggles of The Flash, who battles both the legacy of his powers and the potential dark paths they could lead him down. Ultimately, both Sanji and The Flash must find a way to balance their abilities with their humanity, ensuring they don’t become the very things they fear.

How Spirals Improve Speed and Power: A Sanji and Spiral Power Analysis
1. Spiral Momentum and Acceleration

  • Speed: The spiral motion enhances momentum and acceleration as the force increases with each rotation. Sanji’s Diable Jambe is a prime example of this, where he spins his body rapidly, igniting his leg and generating intense heat and speed with each rotation. The more he spins, the more momentum builds, resulting in faster and more powerful kicks. This mirrors how The Flash utilizes the Speed Force, creating vortices of energy that help him move at incredible velocities, pushing the limits of speed.
  • Gurren Lagann: In Gurren Lagann, the Spiral Power symbolizes unlimited potential and growth. Just like Sanji's Diable Jambe, Simon’s Spiral Power grows exponentially, with each rotation pushing his limits further. Both characters use spirals as a tool to overcome their boundaries—for Sanji, it's breaking free from his Vinsmoke heritage and harnessing his true strength, much like how Simon fights to protect others, using Spiral Power to transcend limitations.
2. Spiral Energy and Focused Attacks

  • Power: Spirals concentrate energy, gathering it into a focused, intense force. Sanji's Diable Jambe takes advantage of this by spiraling his body to create a swirl of heat and momentum, making his kicks exponentially faster and devastating. This resembles how Nejire Hado from My Hero Academia uses her Wave Motion Quirk, which spirals energy into a focused, powerful force.
  • JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: In JoJo, Spin Power harnesses spiral energy, creating attacks like Johnny Joestar's Tusk and Gyro Zeppeli’s Steel Balls, where the energy spirals outward to create immense power and precision. Just like in JoJo, Sanji’s spiraling kicks amplify his speed and power. The concept of Spiral Power in JoJo matches Sanji’s ability to generate heat and energy with every spin, turning his attacks into concentrated forces of destruction.
3. Spirals as Symbols of Growth and Overcoming Limits

  • Speed: Spirals don't just accelerate—they symbolize growth. For Sanji, the Raid Suit represents an evolution in his ability, acting like a spiral that propels him into greater strength and speed. Each spin and evolution reflects Sanji’s internal growth as a fighter, breaking free from the manipulation of his father, Judge Vinsmoke, and finding his own identity. Similarly, The Flash continues to evolve his speed, always pushing the limits of his power to become faster.
  • Gurren Lagann and Spiral Power: In Gurren Lagann, Spiral Power is a force for growth—it is the power of infinite potential, where each push through a limit propels the user toward greater heights. Just as Simon uses his Spiral Power to grow beyond his limitations, Sanji uses spirals to push past his tragic past and unlock greater abilities. The Raid Suit mirrors this, acting as a tool for growth, helping Sanji break free from his genetic limitations and becoming a more powerful version of himself.
4. Spirals as Tools of Deception and Evasion

  • Speed: Spirals also enhance evasiveness and deception. Sanji's Raid Suit lets him move at lightning speed, spiraling in unpredictable patterns, making him almost invisible and difficult to track. The Raid Suit enables him to confuse his enemies by creating spirals of speed that make his movements seem erratic. This mirrors how The Flash creates vortices of Speed Force energy to confuse and mislead opponents, or how Nejire Hado's spiraling waves of force allow her to be difficult to predict in battle.
  • JoJo’s Golden Spin and Precision: JoJo’s Golden Circle is a representation of how spirals can create precise, controlled energy. Sanji’s spirals, especially in the Raid Suit, allow him to strike from unexpected angles, delivering attacks faster than the eye can follow. This unpredictability echoes the Spin in JoJo, where spirals aren’t just used for power, but also for control and evasion, providing an element of surprise that makes his attacks difficult to predict.
5. Spirals Representing the Struggle Between Power and Identity

  • Speed: Sanji's journey is not just about power—it’s about maintaining his humanity while wielding immense strength. His spirals reflect his internal struggle. The Diable Jambe and Raid Suit give him tremendous power, but they also remind him of his father’s cruel manipulations and the legacy of the Vinsmoke family. Similarly, The Flash struggles with the personal cost of his speed, often grappling with the consequences of his abilities. Sanji's spirals, much like The Flash’s, reflect the tension between using power for good while maintaining control over his identity.
  • Black Flash and Raid Suit: The Black Flash, a manifestation of corrupted speed, represents a loss of self-control in pursuit of infinite speed. For Sanji, his Raid Suit amplifies his power but also serves as a reminder of his family’s manipulation. This creates a dichotomy, where the Raid Suit represents both growth and internal conflict. Black Flash embodies the danger of pushing speed too far, symbolizing how power can come at a cost to one’s identity, which parallels Sanji’s own struggle with his abilities and family legacy.

Latent Observation Haki and Future Sight Potential

Sanji’s latent Observation Haki abilities and his potential for Future Sight could further solidify his ties to the concept of spirals and speed. His Raid Suit already enhances his super speed, granting him near-invisibility in battle, and he has shown remarkable instinctive reactions during fights (such as with Kizaru).

Drawing from his latent Observation Haki, it stands to reason that Sanji's spiral-like movements could help him unlock the future sight aspect of Observation Haki. Future Sight allows the user to perceive movements before they happen, an ability that fits well with Sanji’s high-speed fighting style, where each attack flows seamlessly into the next. His spirals (whether from Diable Jambe or the Raid Suit) could represent his growing connection with precognition, where his ability to read his opponent’s intentions accelerates with each spin, just like his speed and power increase exponentially.

Moreover, his deep connection to love and hearts, seen in his care for his crewmates and his emotional vulnerability, could connect to the Voice of All Things—a mysterious ability seen in the One Piece world. This ability allows characters to understand thoughts and emotions across distances, often tied to a strong spiritual connection. Sanji's heart, driven by love and his desire to protect those he cares about, could manifest in a similar way, allowing him to hear the hearts of others, understanding their deepest emotions and intentions.

In this sense, Sanji's latent Haki abilities, enhanced by spiral power, could make him a fighter capable of seeing beyond the present and perceiving the hearts of his enemies, much like the Voice of All Things, but with a unique focus on emotional intuition and love—a power that resonates with his humanity and internal struggles.

Conclusion: Spirals, Growth, and Sanji’s Potential

Spirals are not just about speed—they represent growth, momentum, and the struggle between power and identity. Whether through Sanji's Diable Jambe, JoJo's Spin, or The Flash’s speed, spirals push characters to evolve, break limits, and become stronger. For Sanji, his Raid Suit and spinning techniques mirror the spirals used in other anime worlds to amplify power. His journey, intertwined with growth, emotional conflict, and potential future sight, shows that he is on a path to mastering both his speed and his inner strength, unlocking even greater potential as a fighter. Just like The Flash, JoJo characters, and Gurren Lagann, Sanji’s spirals represent a force that is both a weapon and a symbol of personal evolution—a power that transcends physical strength and taps into the deepest parts of his humanity.
