General & Others What do you really consider "Bad Writing" in One Piece

#21
What is bad writing for you, and what do you REALLY consider bad writing by Oda, and not something he did that escaped your headcannon?? it doesn't have to be just about the Wano arc, in One piece in general. Some fighting, character development, narrative plot, anything.
I'm all ears for you:zorothink::zorothink:
What he did with Usopp was bad writing, turning Usopp into Buggy and making Usopp fight with plants because Noland was a botanist. He doesn't make Luffy fight with swords because of Gold Roger or make Zoro dual wield because Ushimaru or whatever his name is but he does that shit with Usopp because he is lazy with his character

- Giving panel time to fodders and irrelevant arc exclusive only character for more than a few panels.

- Fake tension.

- Lack of piracy within the main group who are more like Hero group saving countries than actual pirates in a pirate manga.

- Abusing "Luffy will be/I will be the Pirate King line" as if we don't know the purpose of the show since chapter 1.

- Wasting prolonged build-up. If I'm not mistaken prior to the raid we had 90 chapters to set up the tension, match-ups, and plots during the raid whereas in reality, Oda does most of that during the actual raid which literally put those 90 chapters before into nothing then wasted time.

- Revealing a daughter of the Yonko who is the main villain of the arc 90+ chapters into the arc. I mention this separately because Yamato looked like a character that was meant to have more relevance to the plot.

- Repeating the same formula. Alabasta v1, Alabasta v2 ( Enies Lobby ), Alabasta v3 ( Thriller Bark ), Alabasta v4 ( FMI ), Alabasta v5 ( Dressrosa ), Alabasta v6 ( WCI ), Alabasta v7 ( Wano ).

- Toying with the reader about power structure instead of making it clear who is where. Trust me it may think like I'm biased because of which character I'm a huge fan of but if Oda made it clear, there won't be much toxicity and minorities wouldn't argue and try to push their agendas on to others.

- Too much chaos in the writing. There are tons of chapters of Wano where Oda literally tries to cover 4874747 different plots and he fails at every single one of them.

- Undermining this universe's strongest characters. If Oda was real to his writing Kaido would demolish the alliance alone before the end of the raid so he could drink himself to sleep.

- Memes. Oda is not funny.

I could go on and on but that would be the waste of both mine and your time so I will cut it here but there is a ton more.

The need for cliffhangers in the end of all chapters that make he create some false tensions sometimes.

Dont think OP has too much bad writting, but of course i'm able to put my expectation in place, i'm not reading Tolstoi, Saramago or Urasawa, but a manga from Shonen Jump, one of the best published there, but still a Shonen, if it was the worst manga ever like some user in this tread say, i would just stop reading, dont understand this fetish in suffering lol

Crazy how most of the guys who complaim on how the lack of powerscale is bad writing, even if the powerscale is a thing from theirs headcanon lol

This is return makes Queen look like a bigger moron. He should know of all he crazy shit Luffy has done even to BM, but didn't give a shit. He unlocked Luffy's seastone cuffs for no reason and sat there watching, knowing Luffy is improving his COA. Also doesn't make sense why Queen was trying to kill Luffy when Kaido sparred his life to make him into a soldier.
Complacency. The thought of things not really mattering in the end.
But of course the irony of it, It's a common thing really. A lot of humans are guilty of such a thing.

Off-topic but Oda thinks it's ok for all women to have big boobs and that's the defining trait of them.
Idiot.

Firstly reading/watching any manga/anime in continuity is lot better and makes you less critical about it than weekly reading

--Firstly PIS Like in latest chapter where BM forgot to use adv coc

--Too many side characters like does anyone really cares for ashura douji or most of scabbards? This is more relevant in post time skip

--Straw hats jumping power levels without that good of explanation like how luffy got adv coc out of sudden

--MC being too special ; I can understand luffy's father or grandfather being special but both?

We know oda doesn’t kill so them surviving wasn’t a big deal but them getting up from an amped up and extremely powerful opponent who brutally attacked them while they were unconscious with little to no damage???? What the fuck???
On top of it the ancients zoans was hyped to be durability monsters. While what we get is regular humans like the scabbards and Kanjurou have better durability.

He has a bank account target for his retirement. It's too obvious at this point.

There are lots of complaints I see mostly in this forum that are quite unfair or stuff that always happened since pre-TS. Yet, those are the points I think hurt the pace and tension the most from more recent arcs.

Going back at deaths that had actual great setting like Kin'enom, Kiku and Kanjuro in this arc, even Pound' scene was great saving his daughter as a goodbye even though he was such a minor character.

The horrible use of Linlin is an easy pick for me. Goofy villains are not insta bad characters and BM was great for me in her scene at FI and majority of WCI, excluding the WEDDING CAKE shit, but she was hella entertaining with her madness wonderland vibe from a diabolical childish tyrant freak of nature. After that her whole character and personality was a mess.

Adding new subplot after another that takes ages to finish. People will say many times that nothing happens in some chapters when in reality we can deal with like 5 plots going on at the same time that simply never wrap up and that's so damn frustrating.
