What do you think is going through Kakukai and his circle of Zhao retard's minds?

I mean, I could sort of get them fucking with Riboku before Qin started seriously invading Zhao, they probably saw Zhao falling as unthinkable, as did most of China. But after Gyou, where they lost a huge chunk of territory, for them to keep antagonizing the only guy that can keep the state afloat is beyond retarded. Toujou at least was understandable because he was going to die soon so he didn't give a fuck, but these guys?

If Zhao falls, they're going to lose their position and their possesions, so why? Are they so delusional to think that they're good enough to defend Zhao without Riboku? Do they plan to escape to another state (mind you, they would still lose a lot even if they did this)? The new king, as retarded as he is, at least gets this. I really don't get what these guys' endgame is.

The manga doesn't explicitely state this is the reason why but it's pretty obvious.

Part of why they didn't want Ren Pa to actually return is because they feared he would wipe them out. Considering Ren Pa lost his position because he used to rebuke Tou Jou when he was the Crown Prince, and the fact his sworn brother RSJ was a top ranking official, the court officials likely had great reason to fear Ren Pa in his time, so they've worked tirelessly to insulate their own power and position since.
