i'm on kaido's team on that one:
the samurai are not strong, their bodies' frail (malnutrition), their spirits' broken (slavery), and their skills' rusty (haven't touched weapons for 20 years).

some samurai are strong, mainly the scabbards, kaido even acknowledged their strength after jack got bested in battle, but their strength was not enough because they are not monsters like oden was.

The fact that even though what happen to normal samurai was rough, you know being in prison and all that, even though they know how strong kaido and his crew are they still went there to fight
