What happened with Luffy's Haki?

  • Luffy was just using Basic Ryou until 1010. Internal destruction Haki (Lvl 3) was ALWAYS CoC-based.

PERSONALLY I believe it's a mistake to make a distinction between ''barrier'' and internal destruction and that's what Luffy was using before adding CoC, some might bring up the tree training but at no point was Kaido going to explode the same way other antagonist haven't exploded previously despite Luffy's punches being able to vaporize rocks before too, now there might be people that still think he wasn't using it because he was making contact but Luffy has beyond doubt shown that making contact and using internal destruction aren't exclusive since that's how he destroyed collars and handcuffs.

Do you need advanced CoA for CoC though? Is that a precursor?
Nah cos there were plenty of CoC users without advanced CoA like Doflamingo and Katakuri. As I understand it:
Level 0 - Basic CoA, can hit logias
Level 1 - Hardening
Level 2 - Barrier Haki
Level 3 - Penetration Haki
Level 4 - CoC + Penetration Haki

According to Kaido, even if you have CoC only a handful of strong people are able to coat themselves with it and reach level 4. But my question is this - what if you have CoC and you're able to coat yourself with it but you can only use say Level 2 CoA? Is that what Oden did? Because Oden never showed Penetration Haki but he was capable of killing Kaido.

Oden remains the outlier in all this cos I don't get why he was so strong despite not having level 4 Haki, seeing as he was amazed when Rogerbeard used it. And Zoro scarred Kaido by seemingly combining CoC with level 2 as well because he also hasn't shown level 3, only thing is his CoC sucks ass cos he didn't even know he had it. So surely a swordsman with level 4 Haki would be ridiculously OP then? I miss Nen from HxH bruh.
