Speculations What if all Good people quit/not join Marines?

Lot of smooth brained people keep criticizing Garp for not leaving the Marines after what he witnessed and do God Valley.
They never care about what will happen if he actually quit Marines.
He can become a pirate and try to actively challenge the WG, which Rocks already tried but failed spectacularly, which means Garp has no chance either, to remind you, Rocks has more knowledge on how to take down Imu than anyone else we have seen till that point. Heck, even Joyboy failed to do it.
Marines will be objectively worse as an organisation if Garp is not in it and try to Groom the next generation into proper guardians of Justice.
VAs seems to get a Battleship of their own and some crew he can chose to man the ship(I don't know it for a fact).
He took some people who can do evil shit bad putting them to good use.

You can't use posthawk justification on why Garp didn't create Revolutionaries, cause they didn't exist till that point and there was no concept of it before Dragon. Lot of people don't have ground breaking Ideas like the Geniuses here on the forum who has more knowledge than any single person in the story.

People can't think of everything. There was an interview where some one asked "Why didn't Newton think of this?" upon learning more about Lagrangian and Hamiltonian Mechanics, and the answer given was "No one could think of everything".

Even Rocks suggested Garp is better off as Pirate, which cements that there was no other faction Garp could chose.

If you take away all good people from Marines, you just made a worse system to fight against. You get people like Greenbull to just run the show.

Also Garp's training is what made Aokiji as powerful as he is and his directions, and we have no proof he would have ever have his fruit without him being on the Marines.

Also Aokiji is the reason Nico Robin lives. If Sakazuki had seen her, she would have been dead. Tashigi wouldn't be able to show the path to Mausoleum to Alabasta in Luffy. If Kuma never joined the WG, Strawhats would have been dead in New World or even in Saboady.

Think of damage people like Nezumi did to Nami's Village, Now replace every marine with someone of his mentality and see how world is better for it.

Externally, i don't think the marines would look much different to the world. Most good actions done by marines have been done on the sly, defying orders, the story not makin the papers.

Internally, that's where the diff is. Without the goodies doing good on the sly, they may just be the WG

Fujitora is doing far better job than garp though.

World of One Piece would fall into chaos.

Post-Whitebeard's death, criminals around the world was ransacking nations/islands, to the point Marines were dispatched all over and it got so thin that their marine HQ was practically defenseless lol.

Hence the Revolutionary Army is specifically trying to overthrow the CD, rather than destroy the World Government itself. Marines will always exist in One Piece world.

Oda, a legit criticism for his writing choice here, has just done a bad job in showing the "good of the marines" and its scale vs just telling about it. We actively see pirates doing more "protecting" of civilians than Marines. and the Marines that do get focus in arcs usually end up being on the "bad side".

Fujitora is now the base standard?? lol

The character who's created for the sole purpose of doing unprecedented things in Marine history = moral base standard. Tuff.

Agreed. No marine other than dragon even questioned that what they were doing was wrong. They simply followed the orders. Feels like most marines are like that.

I don't even care about questioning the world government. There's more bad guys in the world of OP than the WG.

I'm talking about showing marines saving nations from criminals/pirates at a large scale. Showing as to how many people they have doing good and actively helping the regular civilians live a better life around the world. How many lives on a regular they actually save from raids/bandits/etc. Like post-MF arc, all he had to do was show a collage of Marines around the world rescuing nations/civilians from pirates. Akin to showing Garp fighting off pirates that were about to attack foosha village before he came and got beat by dandan.

Oda instead focuses on the small % of marines that are corrupt. Leading to the perception becoming that pirates like Shanks are more good than the Marines.
