Why would Kaido even go to kill Whitebeard if he can leave the job to the marine ? Why the extra effort ?

Exactly. Point here is not if Kaido's intention was to save Ace or no‚ but that Shanks is shady

I believe Kaido's original intent was still the one to take on Whitebeard and I believe he didn't care too much about her daughter, this could be part of the reason why she despises him so much.

But the intriguing matter indeed regards the reasons lying behind Shanks' choice.
