I know this sound like bullshit but the way Oda is going with everybody being related to someone else somehow, what if Shanks mom was also Luffy's mom?

We didn't see her die and we saw Dragon trying to rescue her. So maybe the reason she couldn't raise Luffy is because she fucked Garling, had 2 kids with him and is supposed to be dead for him. Otherwise he might go after her. Especially if she had a child with Dragon.

There is the age thing but BM could have children until very late. Chances are she was also very young during GV.

Oda has also gone far to hype Luffy's brothers up or his relatives, so what if one of the last revelation we have is Shanks and Luffy are half brothers.
