The common trope in anime where the nice guy appears to be evil got me wondering about this. Also, predictable and plausible theories always proving to be wrong in One Piece made me think he's not a good guy and there will be a twist in Oda's favourite Blackbeard's flashback that will make us somehow sympathize with Blackbeard more.
The question is what if Shanks is a God Knight using pirate as a cover and is doing all the bidding for Imu? Think about it, there's noway Luffy is going to fight him seriously unless if he's really evil.
He has to be Griffith level kind of evil to provoke Luffy into going all out.
What if Saint Garling put him in the treasure box he stole to keep him away from God Valley that was about to get nuked? The treasure box that happened to have Buggy in there and that's how Roger found both of them. The treasure box that Xebec was going to retrieve to get his son Buggy back?
What if Shanks crying was all about Roger telling him the truth about what happened in God Valley and that prompted him to re-unite with his family in Marijoa who gave him the Yonko title to do their bidding?
The timing of showing up after Whitebeard's death acting like he's the real deal and telling Beckman that he's ready to go after the One Piece when Kaido and Big Mom fell is definitely suss.
What if he gambled on Luffy so he could sit back and wait patiently until the Straw Hats discover Laugh tale so he could get there and secure the One Piece so Marijoa remains safe (assuming it's a tool that can trigger the destruction of the Red Line and the 4 seas that becomes All Blue)?
Lastly, he's the only one who is obssesed about Teach. Is it because he's afraid that Teach knows everything and is aiming to destroy Marijoa?
What is your thoughts of him faking his whole nice persona and is revealed to be evil?
What we know about Shanks so far;
He is a descendant of the Celestial Dragon, hails from the Figarland family and is related to Saint Garling. Garling who have the authority to execute Celestial Dragons and Shanks who have special privileges to stop the war in Marineford and spoke with the Gorosei casually in Reverie arc which says a lot about their status.
There's glimpse of his territory on the background that appears to be clean, lavish with formal landscapes and the people are seen to be dressed in noble features unlike other Yonko territories which would imply world nobles like to wander around there like Saboady and Sabo's homeland in Goa Kingdom.
We also know that Roger Pirates found Shanks in the treasure box and raised him from there.
