I have a theory that the fist world was defined by a war between the moon people and the ancient giants.

Imu is a product of love between the two races and got his hands on one of the earliest devil fruits, the Devil’s fruit. He was treated as a weapon by the Lunarians so they can win the war but turned against them and recruited an army of demons who got their hands on devil fruits - there were only 8-10 fruits at the time.

Fought Nika and his companions and lost, still survived till the second world where he established the House of Nerona and a kingdom and fought against Nika’s descendants; Joy Boy and Davey Jokes of the ancient kingdom

He is probably the Rat King - 19 kings united together inside him.
He is Nerona, who also has 19 parts of other kings. This is why he has those eyes behind.

Imu is from second world and user of devil's fruit. In first world Earth god was the main big bad. Now just like nika is connected to Joyboy , its possible imu is reincarnation of earth god. Nonetheless imu has nothing to do with first world directly.

Most easiest guess for now is he is not pure blood Lunarian.

I think he's most likely a human who's been made immortal with a separate tie to a mysterious devil power. Like I want to say Devil DF the way Luffy has a Nika DF but Oda's deliberately making it hard to read as a straightforward thing.

There's a chance that Imu is a Lunarian sell out but it's pretty obvious that at least some of those features come from a transformation, and they're mostly not the right features anyway.
