Why would aliens not existing be that scary?

Humans have no external threat to them and can advance and spread freely.

Having aliens... a whole race that has tech and numbers far more vast than us? Yeah no, aliens are scary af and good thing we didn't discover any so far

Each possibility opens more questions.

If they DONT exist, why are we the only intelligent life in this vast universe ?

If they DO exist, we have to ask: who are they, where did they come from, how did they develop, what is their history, how advanced are they, what are their goals and views on humans, etc....

Aliens existing opens a whole can of worms, I would rather they don't exist.

This is a good video that puts the sheer, unfathomable scale of the universe into perspective.

Whether intelligent life is out there or not, we'll never know. Moving as fast as the speed of light, we'd need 440+ years to get to the closest Star System out there. I do believe there'll be single celled organisms on some of Jupiter & Saturn's moons, but nothing genuinely similar to complex life yet alone intelligent. We popped up once in the course of our 4.4 billion year old planet, we're sort of an anomaly to our own definition of life.

It‘s definitely not only us living in the universe, but aliens are so far away that we‘ll never meet them anyway, so I don‘t think it‘s scary at all. What scares me more are the possibilities of primordial monsters/large animals still living on Earth under ground or in the biggest ocean depths.

Sci-fi movies used to always scare me because of the thought of the end of the universe, it's a lot more reassuring to think that we're not alone out there, or that this isn't the only one. There's at least a million different theories about alien life but the one i always found the most realistic were the ones that should they even exist they would have no interest in harming or invading us seeing as they've already evolved far beyond our level.
