General & Others What is Your Opinion on Jinbe as a Straw Hat So Far?

He was only added for Diversity he doesn’t fit with theme for straw hat . Jinbei is very experienced pirate it’s stark contrast to other straw hat crew member except Brook . Brook was trapped in Florian triangle for ages and Luffy wanted a musician in group somehow he fits with Shp

Jinbei was definitely never planned as crew member but Oda probably changed his mind and added more characters for plot convenience .

He’s too serious for a SH, just doesn’t feel like he fits in the dynamic. He was also introduced and consistently portrayed as such a big deal in the world being an ex-warlord so that is still off putting. In fact, he feels more like a mentor figure or a powerful ally. How is someone like him under Luffy? It just doesn’t feel right.

Yamato fits the mold of being a SH better based on her personality and she has more room for character growth unlike Jinbei. Plus, the crew genuinely helped her situation. Whereas it feels more like Jinbei was the one saving Luffy and the SH’s ass throughout the series, again it’s because he started out as a way higher figure than all of them.

I think Yamato won’t fit as well she is already too powerful and strong as Zoro and Luffy . She would definitely disturb M3 pattern which Oda loves to have .

If she joins it will be a Grand fleet alliance not the main member .

Oda has no idea what to do with him. He sticks out like a sore thumb. There was no need for him to join. Siphons off what little screen time the middle trio had.

He was a much much much better character when he was just a badass ally.

I'm fine with him. I don't love him like other SH's nor do I wish for him to die so that his useless ass gets removed from the story.
Overall I find him okayish, I sort of hope for Oda to find a proper direction with him though

Not much else can be said. Pretty straightforward character. Honestly kinda boring when viewed in hindsight.

To me, he's just there. I don't hate Jinbe as a character, nor does he annoy me for no reason, but it seems like his best moments are far behind us.
I would prefer his role to be a powerful ally, as a SH he falls flat to me.

If Jinbe was gonna join, he should’ve joined after Fishman Island. It would’ve given Oda a lot more time to develop him and his interactions with the other SHs. Right now he just feels like somebody who was just plopped there out of nowhere and absolutely nowhere near the same development as the rest of the SHs.

Vivi feels more like a straw hat because she is a pre TS character. Jinbei is more or less a diversity hire. He has his role in the story and all but as a SH he's too bland and the character interactions are lacking. The latter could also be said about Robin post Water 7 and pre Elbaf.
