What kind of mangá do you like the most?

@GrandMaster don't start with berserk.
To all the people here who think that's a good idea, sorry but someone must have taken a big sh.t inyour brain.

Berserk contains insane amounts of violence, gore, rape and is very disturbing.
I was subtle but I think your warning is more effective. Berserk is not for everyone, least of all those who have never read a seinen.

i don't know what kind of content the thread opener usually reads/watches.

But Berserk can easily traumatise an inexperienced reader.
Even a few years back, I wouldn't have been able to handle it.
On the other hand, I started Vagabond at 12 years old.

seinens that take place in the past (Kingdom, Vinland Saga, Vagabond, Ravages of Time)
Pretty much this. Though, i really need to be in the mood for something that requires attention as Vagabond if you really want get behind the greatness that's behind the dialogue.

Kingdom overall was the most fun.

Some of the rape stuff really was intense but it really just reflects the state of the Berserk verse perfectly. I'll never forget the eclipse.
Slice of life, reality, action, thriller, adventure, mystery
I always wanted to give slice of life a shot, any recommendations, can be anime as well?

I'm not saying Berserk is a bad story.
But for a reader who has never touched a seinen, the good messages are easily overshadowed.
I mean, it's not just violence, not just people getting killed. It's gross and disturbing body horror since chapter one.

Tbf, the author made it clear from the very first chapter what kind of a story the reader is getting into. I mean it's supposed to represent hell on earth.

I'll also never forget when the Bees imitated humans and started killing and raping each other. One of the most disturbing moments I've witnessed in fiction with a very sad message.

I can't help but question Miura's mental health.
What awful shit has this man been throught to write such a story?

I do consider Miura a superb writer and Berserk is and will always be one of my fav works out there.

I dunno what to think of it though. I think most writers are professional enough leave personal feelings and experiences out of the story but he surely had an inspiration for starting Berserk.

Especially the child abuse scene.
The way it is written, from the characters' behavior to the psychologocal damages this leaves in Guts even up to adulthood makes me think Miura knew exactly what he was writing about... I'll he honest, this scene desteoyed something in me.

I wasn't calling Miura a murderer or a predator. If anything, I see him as a potential victim.

And "just for entertainment" is pretty much a nonsense argument.

I hope I'm wrong.

Oh my god, you don't even understand what I'm talking about.
But I'll leave it at that, I don't want to discuss this topic any further. It's making me sick.
