The foundations were there for him being the sole legit competitive rival from the Novas and a potential arc antagonist but that’s all in the dust now. Kid isn’t even meeting the bare minimum requirements to pass off as a rival in Wano, he’s more so an ally right now who butts heads with Luffy as a gag. That’s how he’s been portrayed in Wano, any oppurtunity where Oda could have had Kid build upon the foundations that were set have been completely wasted. Not to mention that he’s bordering the bottom half in panel time with Yamato who just appeared right behind him. He’s no more a rival than Sanji is to Zoro, heck even less.
