Greenbull doesn't really fit the bill as he isn't the strongest marine nor does he have specific relations with the SHs.

It's pretty obvious Aramaki wasn't even gonna get to Luffy before he got fucked up by everyone there.
He just had too many opponents.
Maybe if he intercepted the Straw Hats on their ship and fought one of the top contenders, that'd be good.

Greenbull fears Kaidou because of his reputation & strength but Oda somehow always wants to maintain Luffy's status as underdog hence GB walking in w/o fear to take Luffy's head.

Atp his thinking must have been that he can take them while they’re in a recovery phase (7 days or no), maybe it’s that big of a difference maker. I feel like Shank’s intervention alongside his crew adds to this because obviously a force that defeated two yonko and a yonko crew should beat him under a normal circumstance. Also the classic “underrating the new school” thing.
