Back then when sanji accompanied luffy to the roof and then was stopped by fucking Black Maria. Why didn’t Sanji go to the rooftop aswell? Is it because he would have killed Kaido? The answer is pretty easy actually. Zoro's goal was to get to Kaido , Luffy's goal was to get to Kaido BUT Sanji's goal was to get LUFFY to Kaido. His intention wasn't facing Kaido but to escort Luffy.

1. People forget that worst gen members are allowed on the rooftop. Yamato Momo Scabbards have narrative connection. This is to hype WG.

2. From Point 1, the Prophecy also said that they will lead the New Generation. Sanji will not lead the new gen, he is THE Stealth Black.

3. It is still unknown if DJ can pierce through Kaido's skin ala EL Jabra situation. Sanji on rooftop would have no mean damaging Kaido otherwise.

4. If he goes to the rooftop, the one below have less manpower. So Sanji is needed to help Marco stalls King Queen.

5. Like people said, Sanji character development finishes here with BM stuff.

6. Like Point 5, Sanji needs to be saved by Robin since in EL he got saved by Nami. Oda loves his parallel. Also to hype Robin.

7. Then, the most fundamental reason is Sanji's thematic theme as a Defender. Luffy Zoro the one on the offensive, Sanji guards people especially Nakama. That's why he appears to save Chopper.
This is like his usual thing, cool entrance saving people.
