Mihawk and Shanks are noted to have had once a legendary rivalry similar to Roger and Whitebeard's rivalry and that led to many battles so great that even Whitebeard acknowledged their epicness, right until Shanks lost his arm which led Mihawk and him to bury the hatchet.

What were the reasons of that great rivalry ? What may have caused these two then very promising rookies to developp such a feud with each other ?

Maybe young Mihawk lived on an island that the Roger Pirates visited/plundered, and in the midst of defending his home, he and Shanks clashed and immediately recognized an equal in each other.

There is a chance that Rayleigh was WSS before Mihawk so he probably fell in love with Rayleigh and he wanted to beat him for that title but he beat him without using his sword and told him to GTFO because he wants to retire and drink in peace. Smart Mihawk realized that Shanks was on Roger's crew and Gryphon is most likely one of Rayleigh's sword so he thought hmm what if Rayleigh taught him swordsmanship and you know the rest.

If Mihawk had the title "World Strongest Swordsman" and doesnt became a Yonko, but Shanks isn't "World Strongest Swordsman" and became a Yonko.

Yes, because so far what makes you became a yonko isnt just your strength/power. It also how big ur fleet and you had a territory.

So in this case, i would put Mihawk over Shanks individually.

But when it comes to the pirates crew, Mihawk is lose because Shanks had another strong combatant like Beckmann, Roo, Yasopp, and etc

What citation do you have that Mihawk already had a strong reputation, versus having his duels recognized in hindsight due to his current status? Whitebeard remembered the duels, but as Mihawk hadn't met Vista before it's not likely at all that Newgate himself was familiar with Mihawk personally. The "Whitebeard remembered" thing only works if you want to turn around and justify that he also reminisced about Buggy.

Shanks knew there is a swordsman out there worth fighting (or other way around)
so they fought to see who is strongest

I don't see them fighting for a reward , title , personal problem or ...

but more lore around the fight would be fun to see

personally i dont think there is an individual that can beat RHP, unless Oda wants to go Kaguya, yhwach route.

imo hypothetically an Ancient wep Like Poseidon might be able to take out a yonko crew alone. BUT in that case we would need a strong user someone comparable to maybe WB/Roger. so basically we would get Poseidon who alone is already top of the verse and along with her ancient weapon power, i think she can take out a yonko crew. Unfortunately/Fortunately we got Weakahoshi
