What's coming for our spring boi?
Doflamingo said Bellamy would never be more than a simple thug, yet he did the impossible and went to Skypiea, challenging his preconceptions of the world and his very person.
Bellamy suffered and somewhat grew, he didn't stew in resentment and pity but his aim's were misplaced and that lead him down a path of self-destruction; stuck in a cycle of abuse.
Post-Skypiea after Bellamy begged to be given another chance to prove himself (his crew as well), Doflamingo said the new era was near and Bellamy was free to do what he wished (free, 'as he always was' as Doflamingo says in chapter 769), but that he didn't need him.
Bellamy in Dressrosa believed he needed to be aboard Doflamingo's ship to overcome the great wave that's now arrived; with Bellamy finally free from Doflamingo's strings and off alone, retired, reflecting, and crafting flags.
-Bellamy; went to Skypiea
-Knows of Doflamingo's identity as a Celestial Dragon
-Has some thoughts on the upheaval in the world based on his talk of the 'wave'
-Is crafting the SH Jolly Roger in unbreakable cloth, flags/symbols being important to his arc from when Doffy first said he's disgraced it in chapter 303; and the jolly roger/flags beging a core motif in One Piece
-Is friends with Luffy and holds a piece of his vivre card, "just in case-"
-Is one of the three "main" Luffy parallels/foils in the series, alongside Blackbeard and Kid
With all of that and more in mind, what do you think is coming Bellamy's way?
Will he be apart of the plot of the 7 Grand Fleet captains beyond just distributing flags to them?
Will he return to give his gift to Luffy and complete has arc, then do no more?
Will he return and have a separate plot from the fleet given he isn't a member?
Will he fight and who if so-? Just mooks? I don't see a need for a one on one in Bellamy's future?
I think Bellamy oughta be involved in the Blackbeard conflict if anything, keeping the Jaya core consistent and his story within the realm of piracy vs the overarching government conflict, and emphasize his dynamic with/deep connection with Luffy in a way that only a few characters match in my mind.
