What would be your weapon of choice in medieval times?

I would go for a longsword since I like them but I heard spears should be the dominant weapons in close combat (not so close, you need to keep the enemy at distance with the spear and that works well).
Greatswords are too big and heavy, maybe if I put some muscle but anyway you should be too slow in the end.
Shortswords and dagger are too short, you can be agile but if you can not close to the enemy (see the spear) what can you do?
Axes should be pretty heavy and also difficult to use. Only a portion does damage, only slashes and no thrust. Also they are usually short
Maces similar to axes just it is blunt damage this time. Flails seem fun but I would knock out myself on the first move lol
Bow or crossbows should be fun too but only until somebody reaches you

I have seen this panel a number of times, were you the one with this image as your signature? Anyway, is this manga (manhwa?) good?
The second video doesn't work, anyway interesting. I heard In east Europe - Russia there is quite a number of people who does medieval fights-battles as a sport. Seems cool but also really risky (I get the fight was staged and the 2 were most likely professionals still it is a moment to lose an eye without a mask). Anyway they were indeed fast at least until the fight ended.
