Polearms were made for war.Swords for self defense and back up.Bow/Crossbows were usually for hunting or auxiliary weapon.So it depends on the situation really.I would probably own some cheap spear,sword,club and bow.Plate armor was expensive.

The point is to enjoy hypothetical situations like these man... Sure we would all probably die. But we are not in that time. So it's fun to weeb out about what weapons we think we would use. Like, me myself, would be a master class swordsman with a normal katana and a wakizashi. I would be an unstoppable force. I would rule the world with an iron hand.
