Break Week What would you change in One Piece?

A nice volume focusing on the other Supernova from time to time would be appreciated.
Wholeheartedly agree, my two fave arcs are the arcs in which the Strawhat crew isn't in the spotlight.
For sure, people keep parroting they want more SHs and I’m like why? There are a lot of interesting characters to cover, while we already know almost everything about SHs and see them non-stop.

At this point it’s more important to see them work as a team interacting with the world. That can be done with a short focus on them.

Disclaimer: Though if some other characters are a waste of panel like Scabbards or Vegapunks, I’d rather take SHs.

Want more straw hats just mean we want less Scabbards, and random wano citizens.

Well there's alot of things I would change. and I think I'm either to lazy to write them all down right now or I'd rather do other things atm.
  1. Remove Nami permanently, Or just fucking change how her whole character is. I prefer the Captain making the Navigations and mostly Helming the ship.
  2. Zoro would be a woman, but basically the same with some other differences too.
  3. Sanji would have stayed the Gentlemanly Flirt but he'd have his sister along too and they'd get into Flirting to women contests or a Rivalry. This also means I would make the story basically more R or 18+ for "certain reasons". kek
  4. We'd have Naval Battles. The Anime did ok done with Hina showing up in Alabasta iirc.
  5. The crew would look for plunder and we'd show an increase of Belli's as a hual, leading to upgrades of the ship or just the Crews Worth as a cool Indicator of Success or something.
  6. There wouldn't be so much "tech" like the TV Snail stuff etc... It feels a little immersive breaking to me.
  7. I'd have Comedy but it wouldn't be such slapstick, dull like Oda has it.
  8. The Comedic Faces Oda does wouldn't show up nearly as much or not at all. More realistic faces of flabbergasting etc instead.
  9. OK i'm done writing for now.

1. Either give Zoro an actual character besides being a “cooler and more badass” green haired Luffy with swords and no personality or simply delete him. Better yet, delete him so his cult fanbase ceases to exist

2. Tone down Sanji’s perverted gag moments a bit and make them less frequent

3. Make all of the east blue pirates one big crew after their defeats at the hand of Luffy

I agree with most suggestions, especially with @Sir Yasheen idea to have fewer but better fleshed-out SH.
I would overall prefer fewer characters, even fewer races, but more explanation how they work and what are their special traits - e.g. I care about fishmen the most as they were there since the beginning of the series, there are a lot of parallels to real world racism issues, and that panel with Jinbe and Luffy was quite powerful. After WCI I stopped bothering with the races, we have no lore, just a lot of weird looking humanoids.

Stop the padding. Wano is the best example of a disliked arc due to horrible pacing, padding and tons of unnecessary characters.

And since I love the world building, I would really like to get Reverie-like arcs here and there to see what's happening in the world.

So far in story, I have no problem
But then I will write an arc without the presence of Luffy, where Dragon, bb, and Shanks perform their movements for up to 30 chapters.
Also, I wanted to see Garp's reaction to Luffy becoming Yonko... How could Oda forget such an interesting thing:milaugh:

I do not like the sharp cut Oda often does between the good and the bad side. Most times we have characters who are either absolute good and then we have characters who are only bad. This black and white thinking in my opinion lets no room for character development on either side. It also prevents the reader to really identify with the characters.

I want more characters who are not only good, but also have a bad side about them ant the other way around. It makes the characters more interesting.

- Different themes between arcs. Treasure heist, detective story, horror story, kingdom politics, adventure to find artifact, monster hunting, war, espionage, etc. Not always a war / battle for SHs to free nations from evil big guy.

- maintain Pre-TS storytelling and paneling

- Betrayals and consequences to the story, like HxH or Vagabond or Game of Thrones Season 1 -4 . Both victory and defeat are consequences to characters' effort and mistake, not depending on luck.

- Paid off build-ups, no blueballing.

- characters develop and fluctuates emotionally and interaction-wise instead of going through retardation or stagnant.

- Quality over quantity. For example, better to reserve Luffy's scenes just for important scenes / battles / powers / ideological / character-developing scenes, rather than 10 chapters of him fighting fodders.

---

- Kaidou is a titan instead of a dragon. He can increase his body's hardness and density indefinitely. Kaidou oneshot Zunisha as a flex.

- Big Mom is a human-sized grandma full of wisdom.

- Shanks can control feelings, will and mind of others using his unique CoC.

- Zoro becomes calm hermit-like, precise and technical swordsman after timeskip (instead of muh stronger haki style), get CoO to cut enemies' weak points, cut mountains due to technique first and hardest CoA (in the SHs) second. Apparently Asura is advanced Hardening CoA application. He learns to cut all elements as final stage of a master swordsman.

- Sanji get the best Observation Haki instead of Luffy, able to track the smallest details of enemies' future movement, and treat battles as chess games.

- Luffy gets faster-than-light speed (authority over his own kinetic energy), due to him able to create his own Awakening methods to formulate his own power, but erasing Gomu2 no Mi in return, opening the possibility of getting new fruit.

- Imu is an eldritch god.

- In Laugh Tale, there is that ultimate mystical tree where people's wish are transformed into Devil Fruit. And also that place is able to transform Devil Fruits into creatures, destroy Devil Fruits etc etc. That place is called One Piece, a pocket reality that is freely controlled by the one who is able to claim it.
