I'm glad that none of ya are in Sanji's shoes right now:denzimote:Let's see if ya can even know how to handle the situation lol:noo:

Imagine thinking an fake act is a serious matter:kayneshrug:Sanji didn't meant to kick or hurt Luffy, he just don't want Luffy to get involve lol:seriously:
He said he attacked luffy to the best of his capabilities. What part of that is fake.

I'm not a writer but,

Sanji should've called Germa's bluff. If he doesn't come with, BM will kill them as well. Which leads to an opportunity for Sanji to work with his family to doublecross BM instead. At the wedding, it could've been a double-double cross, spiderman meme. It would make for an amazing reveal. Add Capone into the mix, Germa and BM fight each other, Zeff will be forgotten. Luffy and co get out scot free.

Alternatively, it doesn't have to be complicated. Sanji could've gave Zeff a last call, the logistics won't be that hard to explain. Tell him the truth and have an emotional goodbye. Tell Luffy the truth because he trusts his captain to crash the wedding. The wedding's sudden turn of events due to BM's planned betrayal turns out in Sanji's favor, Zeff is saved.

Or even simpler, keep the story the exact same but add consequences and change. Sanji acts more like an adult, less gag. Realizes the cruelty of the pirate world. Anything that shows a change of character so at least all that backstory and hardships wasn't for nothing.

My problem with the story was that Sanji did absolutely nothing, he did everything for the enemy and none of it for himself or Luffy. Why should the readers care about Germa and BM pirates? They are bad people. As readers, we are following the Strawhats, past present and future. We don't care about the citizens of WCI or Germa or Pudding because we'll rarely ever see them again. There are so many ways to write an empowering story for Sanji. Him and the Strawhats should be the main focus of WCI, Oda has lost sight of that and almost every arc post-timeskip has suffered because of it.

Who cares why Sanji wanted to save the Germa... the thread is titled "What would you have done in Sanji's shoes?" so bringing up Sanji's motivations and beliefs is pointless... I'm not Sanji and would have used Brulee to grab Reijuu and left.

Damn near every decision Sanji made during that arc was bad and still had to end up leaving his family behind in enemy territory... Pedro had to sacrifice himself because of it Pekoms had to go on a suicide run to help Luffy (though those two have names that start with P so who knows).

As soon as the cuffs go on it's quite late to change a lot of the bad decisions Sanji made... After the cuffs go on let's see...

- Plot with Luffy and Nami to try and make sure they aren't immediately caught instead of attacking him and thinking he will go away, preferably try to get them to find the key to the cuffs.
- Let the Vinsmokes die at the wedding
- Kill Pudding, laugh at her 3rd eye
- Make a great smelling, but foul tasting cake so that Big Mom continues her rampage and destroys tottoland.

In Sanji's shoes the majority of us would have done something stupid ending up dying with Luffy and the Germa :josad:

That was that Sanji's best.
No one can give his best while hitting someone he loves that doesn't even protect himself and that you want just to go away.
He wasn't even furious with Luffy for something he has done :kayneshrug:

Moreover we have seen HM in FMI and that Concassé, while certainly being a strong move, was nothing compared to a blow able to push a colossal being away and create enough fire to cover a small mountain :goyea:

Those defending Sanji's actions during WCI act like they didn't read the story from the begining...
Luffy is ready to go to hell, fight the devil then go to haven and fight god if it is to save a Nakama...
Sanji knows that since he is ready to do the same so why does anyone think (including Sanji) that Luffy was gonna back off after a letter ? Or after being hit ?
Even Sanji admitted that he was wrong and messed up (after evil Pudding's reveal)...
His actions could've been justified if he just met the crew (like Robin) but it's not the case.

This would have gone against the character principles taught by Zeff.

The whole depth of Sanji's character in Whole Cake is about him not being a war-animal like his brothers. He is a kind character, with feelings and a huge heart.
Agreed.

I would have done everything Sanji did, and I wouldn't even hesitate as much as he did. I wouldn't want my step father (life savior) or crew hurt in any shape or form. Would probably hope to turn it around once I see them safe.

ignore the threats and blackmail. Zeff can handle himself. he does not need Sanji to babysit him. neither do the SHs.
BM and Luffy were already at war. Sanji did not save the SHs from anything. he actually made it worse for them by leaving.

the worst thing Sanji did and the one thing I dislike the most about the arc is how he acted towards the SH crew.
his act was so damn idiotic and prone to fail it.
after Sanji saw what Luffy did for Robin (lol, Sanji himself did it too) he thought he could ditch the SHs like that? ridiculous.

Sanji acted like a 16y old emo chick that slit her wrists horizontally as a silent cry for help.

could you stop with these threads that attempt to rationalize Sanjis behavior. it all ends in trashtalking sooner or later anyways and the point you throught this thread might have becomes moot.

As judge's son, I would just cooperate with luffy rather than fighting him and making more problems. I write on my letter to meet up at germa kingdom there, or just find me somewhere else (I drop some tears on the letter because I still want to go home to sunny).

Put a bullet to my head so that my crew would not need to carry my loser a** anymore. After all, Sanji is not needed, Zoro, Yamato and Jinbei can do everything he can do a lot lot lot better. Cooking? They don’t need a hotel chef, just make Nami cook meet and voila, done.
Captain disagrees with you..

Honestly its a food for thought... nami o
could have taken the charge of cooking...

she tries to tell luffy that sanki shouldn't treat his cap like this but gets shut and luffy uses talk no jutsu and makes sanji cry..

Honestly i get why'd you wanna kys seeing how dimwitted you really are but sanji was indispensable
