Smoker was Luffys rival. Look even if we want to ignore feats and pretend rookie Ace was somehow as strong as G5 ACoC Luffy (

When did he get his bounty? Was it a frozen warlord like bounty? Also, Kaido doesn´t respect anyone he views as weak. He literally believes everyone in Wano deserves to be his slave because he views them as weak. His entire world view is that might makies right.

Do you believe Hanafuda was some secret top tier and that he lost to Ace through some ??? means. Is this where you wanna go instead of the logical route of rookie ace defeated Hanafuda who was around or weaker then his level which is a level far weaker then Kaido and Kaido yet of course respected him because he also respects Jack who is literal fodder to him, simply because both admired him and wanted to impress him.
WB did far more, he was grooming him to become the new PK lol whereas in the case of Hanafuda he, like jack and King and the others were working for the common goal of making Kaido the pirate king.

When Jack got beaten at Zou he had no interest or worry, and only upset that Doflamingo was going to jail, ending the smiles business.
